Weren't they traded for each other?

^ Yes. End of one era and beginning of another. IMO, Rock is still the best all around player the Kings have had. When Jordan says you were his toughest competitor, you know there was something special about him.

I'm wondering what IT's true feelings about this whole situation are. It had to be a bag of mixed emotions since he's from Tacoma. Either way, with the shakeup this off season, I think he'll definitely be one of the guys that stays to set the tone for the next chapter of the franchise.

That's what made that pic of Rock and Webber great, two guys who never played together but share the common bond of having played in Sacramento :hat :hat

Hearing C Webb talk up on stage was magical :hat

IT I think is obviously torn, but he's got love for this place. I'm sure nobody asked him to go to the city council meeting last year when the arena first got voted on. And we fully embrace him, dude is everywhere in Sac. Love Young Zeke :smokin

kinda bad audio, but dope nonetheless

So, moving on to actual offseason questions...as it stands we only have $47.6 million in salaries (assuming Tyreke receives a QO).

- Is anybody opposed to re-signing Cole Aldrich? I think he could be very useful off the bench if he finds 15 or so minutes a night.
- What to do about Chuck Hayes or Jason Thompson? I just don't think we can have both, it'll never work. Either of these two would be good bench players, but not as starters. And if they're both bench players somebody is going to ride the pine hard and somewhere around $6 million will rot on the bench.
- I liked what Toney Douglas brought after the ThRob trade, but there's already a logjam of players who don't fit together.
- Jimmer. Improved his game but never saw the minutes I think we all thought he should've gotten. Is there a place for him on this team? Should we trade him for a 2nd rounder?
- Salmons comes off the books after this season, I don't think a TO will be exercised for the '14-'15 season. He is definitely trade bait for a team looking for cap relief and we have so much space it almost doesn't even make a difference if we took back a bad contract.
- Finally, Tyreke and DeMarcus. They just don't work cohesively on the court. I think DeMarcus has a much higher ceiling but obviously has behavioral issues. Tyreke finishes at the basket as good as anyone in the league but he has a broken jumper and is injury prone. Tyreke has missed more games since his career started than Steph Curry! Surprising, but true. I don't think the team can succeed with both players on the roster, they just don't mesh together. Good talents individually, but together it's not so great. If we have to part with one, who gets shipped?

I wouldn't mind Cole Aldrich coming back.

JT, obviously we should hang on to. He is at worst a serviceable first big of the bench, and right now he is an alright starter on a bad team.

Chuck, I think we could keep him around if he's ok with the limited minutes. I like him as a veteran presence on the team and as an emergency big man or situational 1 on 1 post defender.

Toney Douglas is cool too. Don't mind him staying as long as that mean Jimmer and/or Thornton are gone as well.

Should we trade Jimmer for a 2nd rounder?

if that's his value we might as well just keep him. I have a feeling he gets dealt this offseason tho.

I think Tyreke and DMC can play together with the right coach and complimenting pieces surrounding them, ie shooters.

Not really ready to give up on either of them, but if we were to, I'd give up Tyreke. Maybe a sign and trade for Granger or something idk.

unfortunately, it seems that Ric Bucher has reported that the Kings are interested in Mike Malone

sadly, this probably means we won't get him

any other potential coaching candidates?

Nate Mcmillan would be awesome.

But I think Vivek is gonna go for a young, up and coming assistant head coach that is looking to prove himself and make a name.

Brian Shaw, Malone (obviously), Elston Turner.... thats about all I can think of right now

Sam Amick seemingly confirming what we all knew, Petrie is on his way out the door.

Bittersweet ending for him, these last few years weren't really his fault since the Maloofs were handcuffing him down. But he was definitely responsible for the revival in the late 90s early 00s.

Names that are mentioned in the article are:

RC Buford, Spurs

Travis Schlenk, asst GM Warriors

Chris Wallace, Grizz
Sacramento Kings begin search for GM
In the article it says that Jerry West is consulting Vivek..... maybe Vivek just says **** it and brings him in as GM!?!?

RC Buford would be a fool for leaving the Spurs....... but Amick names him specifically so I'm sure there has to be something behind that

The only reason I can see for Buford leaving is the Spurs aging roster. They haven't really brought in any young talent in the last couple years that will lead the team after Duncan & Parker leave to keep them in title or even playoff contention.

I can't wait to see what Vivek & co have up their sleeves with the moneyball strategy. Should be interesting!

Kawhi Leonard is a really good young piece but he can't do it alone and Splitter isn't the guy to be his co-star either. I've read on numerous sites that the Spurs would take Allen Crabbe with their 1st. But of course that's just mock sites.

I wonder what stats Vivek and co. are looking at to determine a valuable piece for cheap price.

Mike Malone is a "lock" for the Kings coaching job. He's one of the more coveted names on the coaching market... and the Kings (might be) landing him? It's a new age.

The Reke for Granger trade seems like it just makes sense. Either that deal or Granger-for-Eric Gordon is happening.
