He did everything he could possibly do with his talent. You could argue the he never dropped another classic after TM 101, but that was lightning in a bottle. He was never going to have a career like Jay. Even if you compare him to a Dirty South legend like Scarface, his lyrics were never that profound. I feel like he exceeded expectations and has had several solid albums.

50 has suffered a severe drop-off. He had such a strong movement but really didn't put out anything memorable after GRODT. Decent material, but nothing I go back and listen to.

Snoop def fell off, but at least he's had a plethora of songs that were hits. Most of his albums were trash after Doggystyle, but I dig the R&G stuff he does, tho.

I don't agree with this at all. Doggystyle is a classic and Snoop was one of the guys at the forefront of the East vs West battle, which is one of the most significant and memorable moments in the history of hip hop.

Jeezy had a run of great albums and never really put anything terrible out. He also gets love from the mainstream and the streets.

50 changed the mixtape game, released one of the greatest albums of all time, and is one of the most commercially successful artist of his generation.

Yes Doggystyle is a classic. Everything after that is mostly trash.

Everything after TM101 is meh. Idgaf if he gets love from the streets

Yeah I don't see how they are disappointing when all those dudes are popular and have had hits.

I view this thread as a rapper that just never took "that" step and guys like Saigon make sense because they never "made it"

Like I thought J Cole had potential to be legendary but he is definitely not disappointing

Not necessarily. I'm talking about living up to artistic potential. Talented dudes who, for whatever reason, just didn't put together the solid body of work you know they are capable of creating.

A dude like MF Doom has made critically acclaimed music but has not really been wildly commercially successful. I'm not strictly talking about "winning" in the rap game.

 To this day, he is one of the most talented artists I've had the pleasure of listening to. He must have just gotten sick of being blackballed by the industry and didn't take it seriously after the first album dropped.

For a guy who was a part of one of the biggest rap groups, he really had the buzz and legs to be a frontrunner of New York music. I don't usually have a problem with guys who wanna work with others, but he really took the down south route, and never made music by himself. That wayne collabo really halted his career.

Lol at Jada and Fab being household names.  As far as hip hop goes Drake, Kanye, Jay-Z, 50, Em, and Snoop, among a few others are household names.  Fab and Jada got close at times, but never really got there. 

If we are talking from a pure musical and hip hop standpoint  those dudes where never able to solidify themselves as the heavyweights they where destined to be.  Jada is the epitome of a generic NY rapper.  Fab has nothing but a bunch of mediocre albums.

Saigon is definitely one of raps biggest disappointments, but at least he has TGSNT.  That's more of  a complete body of work than Jada or Fab ever had.

I remember when "Watch for the Hook" first dropped and I seen the video. I flew off of the couch and was like "oh snap, it is  ol' boy from Goodie Mob Dirty South song. I went straight to the record store to cop East Point Greatest Hits, and I would let that thing ride out from beginning to end.

I think I would have to put Snoop on this list. After hearing him on "Deep Cover" and all over "The Chronic" I thought he would be up next. Granted he dropped "Doggystyle" but after that his solo career was disappointing. It seems like Snoop was at his best when he was on other people's albums.

I never really expected anything from him in first place. Jealous One's Envy is a good album. Represent is cool. Greatness & Fat Joe are words that don't cross paths in my mind.

It was dope because here is this dude from Philly, but he was rapping out of the West during Death Row's heyday. Him and Daz were the truth, more so Kurupt, but Daz did the music. While we're on it, I thought Rage was dope and could've held her own against all of them. I know what did them all in, it wasn't lack of talent, it was when Death Row started falling apart after Dre left.
