As a teacher this is something you have to have in the back of your head at all times. I keep my door locked at all times, with a doorstop so I can just kick it closed if I have to.

I set up my desk so there is a empty space in the back corner of the classroom that isn't viewable from the window and is shielded by a file cabinet.

We had a student caught with a gun on campus this year, kids gotta have clear book bags, there is a teacher I went to school with who's school had a shooting back in Septemember.
