HOOVER | University of Alabama defensive end Marcell Dareus has beendeclared ineligible and is believed to be the only UA player whoattended a party in Miami hosted by a sports agent, a source close tothe situation told The Tuscaloosa News, but UA officials said Wednesdaythat the school has yet to take that step.

The NCAA will make the ultimate ruling on when, or if, Dareus willbe reinstated. It is standard procedure for a player to be declaredineligible immediately whenever a question of whether the playerviolated NCAA rules arises.
Southeastern Conference CommissionerMike Slive would not comment on the case, but indicated the league isassisting UA in its probe.

He's been ruled ineligible by the university until the NCAA ruling comes down. If they dont rule until the 4th game and say he is eligible then he will play then but we dont want to take the risk of him playing then the NCAA deciding he's ineligible during the season and we have to forfeit all those games.

Everything else is rumor or misinformation.
For once, ESPN may be the best source right now. Probably because their best guys are in bham and have had access to our players and head coach today.
Also, anyone saying he's done for the season is clearly not following the situation as closely as they should, or they just don't understand what is going on."
