I'm surprised there's no thread about this show!

During the Meiji era (late 19th century), 292 fighters come together at Tenryū-ji Temple in Kyoto, drawn by the chance to win a grand prize of ¥100,000. The challenge is clear: take each other's wooden tags and make it all the way to Tokyo. The winner takes the prize. One of the warriors, Shujiro Saga, joins the dangerous contest with a personal mission: to help his sick wife and child.

imo it's like squid games x battle royale x samurai

i binged this show in 2 days. i was hoping they filmed this like squid games season 2 and 3.. but nope, gotta wait for them to renew for season 2..

It was for sure entertaining and I enjoyed all the characters.

Surprised they haven't greenlit S2. A series like that, I would've assumed they were already filming S2.

That was the most frustrating part. The way it ended made it feel like it was coming but then that's it. At the minimum, waiting until 2027/28 is a major bummer because I really loved this show. It actually topped Shogun for me for this genre.

it was definitely more easy to follow than shogun.. not as much history explaining as shogun
