The 20-year-old woman who ran onto the court during last night's Nuggets game has never been banned from the Pepsi Center, and Denver police are not aware of any previous issues involving her stalking any Nuggets player.
Savannah McMillan-Christmas was cited for trespassing after she walked toward player Ty Lawson in the first half of the team's playoff game against the Los Angeles Lakers. She is scheduled to appear in court in Denver on June 5.
Kurt Schwartzkopf, chief marketing officer at the Pepsi Center, said last night McMillan-Christmas seemed disoriented but did not appear intoxicated. She was immediately stopped and escorted out of the arena, where she was later picked up by her mother.
Several media outlets, citing Yahoo Sports, reported that McMillan-Christmas may have previously stalked former Nuggets player Kenyon Martin. The Associated Press quoted a security guard who said she asked "Where's Kenyon?" when she was stopped.
Schwartzkopf said today that a report that McMillan-Christmas had been previously banned from the Pepsi Center was "not true."
"We have no knowledge of any of that, nor do we know where it came from," Schwartzkopf said.
He also said it is official Pepsi Center policy to ban any unauthorized person who walks onto the court for at least one year, but that officials are waiting until McMillan-Christmas' case has gone through the legal system to decide whether she will be banned for what occurred last night.
Det. John White, a Denver police spokesman, said police are not aware of any previous incidents involving McMillan-Christmas and stalking. He also said it is standard procedure to ticket any unauthorized person who walks onto the court with trespassing.
McMillan-Christmas' criminal history in Colorado shows three traffic violations: careless driving in 2010, driving without a functioning headlight in March 2011, and driving under the influence, a misdemeanor, in December.
