Team also being a joke last year? Ummm... no.

But continue the narrative about how it was Dwight's fault last year (not the coach), and injuries (not the coach), and ARod's steroid scandal (don't know what this has to do with anything, but IT'S NOT THE COACH).
Coulda swore that we had one of the best records in the NBA the second half of the year.

In that first half, we had Darius Morris and Chris Duhon as our PG's.

Nash, Pau, Blake, Ron, and Dwight all missed time due to injuries.

And then of course, we killed Kobe to end the year.

But didn't we ALL push for that? We DEMANDED they make the playoffs, because we had no pick to get, so we wanted a chance in the postseason, since we didn't know if Dwight would stay, and we couldn't get a good pick anyways, so we wanted to roll the dice. So they did. And we blew up Kobe because of it.

Now all of a sudden he was terrible last year?????? Huh?
at some point, ska will have to give credit to someone. will it be kobe? will it be mda? we'll find out next time on dragon ball z
I'm'a be real, shock the world.

Kobe.

No fakies.

put that in a spoiler

now i have no reason to watch next weeks episode of DBZ

All anti MDAers, please provide a list of coaches you would like to replace MDA.

5 names each.

Within reason. Do not list Greg Popovich, Pat Riley, or Phil Jackson. No Eric Spolestra, etc.

Available coaches, guys that aren't "franchise" coaches with their respective teams.

5 guys you want, that you feel are better than Mike D'Antoni.

Please list them, and LTB, please combine them somewhere in the OP. You don't have to list the same name 8 times or whatever, let's just put a list together, compiled from all the different Laker fans.

5 names per person, list them now please.

@LiCeNseD To BaLL
This is your strongest leg to stand on regarding the support of MDA.

Like his campaign slogan would be "I mean, really, who else ya got? ;) "

I only put porn stars in spoilers.

Kobe's not a...

... wait... is he?

Revisionist history. :lol
Last year's lineup was decent enough to do FAR more damage than what was done.

Team being a joke this year is easy for MDA to use as an excuse.

Team also being a joke last year? Ummm... no.

But continue the narrative about how it was Dwight's fault last year (not the coach), and injuries (not the coach), and ARod's steroid scandal (don't know what this has to do with anything, but IT'S NOT THE COACH).

What? If he had a stellar lineup of really healthy athletes, he'd do better?

Well nah duh. :lol  Any dummy can coach a team of healthy athletes; ain't that right Spo?

But give 10 coaches terrible rosters, and the good ones will still keep the roster on the same page; not flawlessly, but for the most part.

The good ones will still maintain a vision, and it will be evidenced even in blowouts.

You telling me MDA has this team in the palm of his hands?

You selling me that?

You telling me that MDA has a vision?!

Dude is clueless.

And I'm not even saying "Can him!!!"

I'm just not buying that the reason we keep him is because he's All World.

We keep him, LITERALLY, because there's no better option, and because (as you said), moving someone else into his office means implementing a completely new system WITH (presumably, and most likely) completely new players.

We don't keep him because he's great; we keep him because a stale peanut butter sandwich is still better than a moldy, rotten fish sandwich. Save the crap about how great the stale pnb is.

But but but...he had no training camp...

GIVE ME A BREAK. MDA's team last year should not have been struggling to make the playoffs, MDA can't coach the Lakers. Put him on Orlando and have them overachieve, we need a more well rounded coach. Obviously defensive specialist (Mike Brown) and offensive specialist (MDA) hasn't worked. Give me a good coach, that is all.
Why not?

Nash was out with his leg injury. Dwight was recovering from his back surgery and shoulder issues. Pau dealt with various issues (knees, feet, concussion). Blake was out with his yearly freak injury (abdominal strain). Hill was out most of the season due to hip surgery. Duhon and Morris were part of the regular rotation. MWP and Jamison were washed for the most part. Meeks was inconsistent doing the one thing he was expected to do. And this was on top of them entering the season with a top heavy roster in a highly competitive conference.

So please enlighten me why they shouldn't have struggled getting into the playoffs.

Because they had "names" on pieces of paper. Pau, Kobe, Nash, Dwight, Artest, Jamison, Blake, 75 wins!!!!!!!

Fair enough. Need your 5.

Just off the top of my head:

1. Thibs
2. JVG
3. SVG
4. Rick Carlisle
5. Monty

It's kinda like saying yeah man, this Milwaukee's Best is all we have in this house.

Don't like it? List some better beer options you'd like to drink from the kitchen?

Oh there aren't any other beer options around for us to drink right now? Then how can you say this beer is horrible?

I'm pretty sure we could have gotten Doc had we fired MDA and Kobe not willed us to the playoffs.

Lakers GM Mitch Kupchak met with Mike D'Antoni and Jim Buss after Thurs game. Initial inclination is to see how team responds, sources say.

He'll be gone soon.

Mambas list looks pretty good from first glance. But I'm not listing anything official yet. Ill give you my top choices some other time. Don't be a bully.

I'll help you out though. I'll make the poll and do the dirty work with a spoiler in the OP and all of that :)

this is currently every coach in the league, nos are for guys who have not proven anything dont show any signs of being better than dantoni, maybes are guys who show good potential but dont have any rings to show for it (like dantoni) and yes are for championship coaches

of course if you compare dantoni to phil he will look like a scrub but compare him to the rest of the league and he's clearly above average. willing to bet most people here have no idea who half of these guys are

If you can't name 5, give me 4. Give me 3.

Give me half a first name, I don't care, but name the coaches you want in here to replace Mike. Don't be shy now you clowns, get me those names.

We were firin off names when Mike Brown was on the block, so give it to us now. Let's hear y'all's solutions.

it was a honest weird font color copy and paste glitch

NT hates the celtics too

I just sent this as a PM to CP when discussing where he's trying to go with this whole name 5 coaches thing.

I see where he's going with it.
Just thought id share my view and see what you guys think as well.

Sometimes giving a hungry up and coming coach like Spo is a better idea than giving a usual name the job.

Sometimes they don't workout, sometimes they do.

But fresh blood is a risk that usually doesn't fall back too harshly on management. Especially if it's someone whose getting cosigns the way Spo was.

Obviously there
Might not be a lot of better coaches available that we as regular folks RECOGNIZE.

But as a professional basketball team with scouts and unlimited resources you can make your rounds around the NCAA, talk to scouts, look into other teams assistants in the off season, see who has some buzz as a passionate young coach who can really motivate in practice. Interview, discuss,
Do homework.

It doesn't always have to be a SVG or Doc although they pay off obviously.

There are hundreds of hungry coaches out there that just have to be weeded down to the best of the best. Give them a chance when someone that clearly won't work has had their chance. How can we say definitely that there is no one better available when not many are getting opportunities? Big name coaches keep getting recycled while others are patiently waiting in the rafters for their chance, word to sting.
