Among Laker wing players (guards, small forwards) who play significant minutes, DLo is DEAD LAST in "Total Contested Shots" behind Deng (team leader), Ingram, Clarkson, Young, and Williams.
Among Laker guards and forwards who play significant minutes, DLo is DEAD LAST in "Total Contested 3-point shots" behind Ingram (team leader), Randle, Clarkson, Deng, Young, and Williams. He barely has 4 more contested 3's than Nance, whose position on the defense isn't out by the 3-point line. What's even worse, Mozgov has 74 contested 3-point shots to Russell's horrible 69!! And Mozgov is a damn center!!! LMAO
Among Lakers who play significant minutes, DLo is SIXTH on the team in "Total Loose Balls Recovered" behind Clarkson (team leader), Randle, Williams, Ingram, and Nance, and barely ahead of Deng and TRob who hardly plays.
So I don't want to hear that Clarkson doesn't hustle, that DLo does more than Ingram, etc etc.
Based on hustle stats, Ingram, Clarkson, Williams, and Swaggy make a hell of a lot more impact on numerous facets of the game than Mr. One-Dimensional Hollywood Russell.

Zu has really shown potential to be a Marc Gasol type. His future looks bright

I mean it would also indicate that Russell has played 500 less minutes than Ingram & Clarkson.. 400 minutes less than Deng & Randle... 300 minutes less than Lou Williams. Remember he's been injured for almost about a month of the season.
If you give Russell those 500 minutes, which would equal 18.5 extra games at his 27 mpg clip..
He had 170 shot contests in 34 games, which equals 5 per game..
You give him the 18.5 games he's missed in terms of minutes, that's an extra 93 contests, which will put him at 263 contests, only 4 less than Clarkson.
Also your total contested shots really is a nonsense stat, because it will always favor bigs over guards... Comparing the two is nonsense.
Again the total contested 3 point shots thing is another fallacy... 18.5 extra games, 2.0 Contested 3s per game, let's round down and say it's another 36.... He'd be 5th on the team with 105.
But let's look further at this.. Defended 3 pointers...
Defended FG% on 3 pointers... Russell is at 30.9
Only Nance is better at 24%
Ingram 40.1%, Deng 32%, Lou 36.1%, Clarkson 37.8%, Nick 37.7%
Russell leads the team in deflections per game... So that's fun
Also again Total Lose Balls Recovered ignores that Russell has missed about a months worth of basketball.... He averaged .6764 loose balls recovered... Over the 18 games worth of minutes that he's missed.. That's an extra 12 loose balls recovered, for a total of 35. Which puts him 4th on the team.
