**LA LAKERS THREAD** Sitting on 17! 2023-2024 offseason begins

This thread is a joke
How are you so certain that Dlo follows the same progression as Kyrie and not tony wroten or Brandon Jennings?

And simply looking at ppg rpg and apg is a flawed way to compare players due to differing schemes/usg etc. vorp and win shares per 48 are much better when assessing value and making comparisons

Nobody truly knows what the kid will be.

But it's far too early to give up on him.

If he has these same issues year 3... hey give it to him. But he has shown improvement.

That's my perspective bro. I want STARS on these Lakers. And I'm gonna say it again, DLO aint' gonna be a Superstar. Y'all gonna see what I mean by 2019-2020. And if I'm wrong, I'll be the first one here to admit I was wrong. But I highly doubt that's gonna happen.
we'll be in the WCF in 2019-20

"i want stars" ...you're really the hollywood one man

stars didnt want to join to be with Kobe in his last few years

they didnt want to sign here with our top lottery picks

the team has lost its lure, bruh....

we all want stars bruh, but let the kids progress and get there in this system...

if you build it, they will come

I want to know what's the definition of a superstar, because by my definiton there's like seven or eight superstars in the league, man. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

You don't win chips without elite players. Call them stars or superstars or intergalactic space cowboys or whatever

We need at least one of our young players to become elite or we get one from elsewhere

I'm of the opinion Dlo doesn't have the skill set to make him elite, that's my opinion

BI has a chance because of what he's shown on both ends, playing multiple positions, getting in the lane dunking on bigs, nice post play at times, etc.

And if D'Lo is not elite (probably not, but you never know), but very good I would still be happy and think he'd have a place on the team.

Hard to say with Ingram because he is the furthest away from everyone else at this point from us knowing what he is and isn't.

but hes on the clock come next year tho

good grief...
Wrong. BI doesn't even turn 20 until September. He won't be on the clock until September of 2018.
then by that acount... if he isnt putting up numbers or leading like Magic and Zeke a day after he turns 20 ...he aint the one either

based on what some particular ppl think

D'Lo was on the clock at 19.

I just put him on the clock yesterday. He has until he turns 23 to impress me.

Not me. I'm giving all of them until they turn 23. D'Lo is almost 21 therfore the clock has started.

100% agreed.

But say BI comes this Elite player and D.Lo is a good/serviceable PG. It's easier to keep guys on your roster than to sign free agents or trade. The CBA is there to keep players from moving.

He may not end up elite, but I don't think he is going to be garbage like some do.

You had him on the clock after his first summer league game. :lol

In 3 years
Randle will be 24-25
DLo will be 23-24
Ingram will be 22-23

And hopefully Clarkson, Nance, Zubac will provide a nice young core around them, and we'll have attracted a star from somewhere else.

Don't address me fam. I put him on the clock yesterday.

DLo has Elite Floor Vision and Passing Ability.... Yes, there are flat and lazy passes, that lead to turnovers... Those happen, sometimes you think a guy has his guy boxed out, or has good position, and he didn't..... Or the pass just comes out of the hand flat... See an elite pitcher, Masahiro Tanaka for example... He's an Ace. His splitter is ridiculous, but on occasion it hangs, and he ends up giving up homeruns. They typically decrease with experience.

But where Russell has elite floor vision is evident in some of the angles he uses to make a pass, he has an ability to get a pass in that not too many guys can make. Even if the pass becomes a turnover, it's fine, he's trying to figure out the way to get it through. How he needs to bounce it, where and when he has to throw it.
He's also credited with a lot of turnovers that guys were just not ready to handle, or were not looking when they should have been. Or in Mozgov's case, they blow the shot somehow at the rim, or Deng missing a wide open 3. You can count on both of those happening once a game.

He also has a great shooting stroke. Was shooting 39% from deep before the knee injury, shooting 36.7% since coming back from the injury, and that's been considered a slump.

He's also elite at navigating the P&R, and getting a guy on his hip, and drawing the defense... Where he needs improvement on it though, is that when he's taking a shot, he's often leaning way too far forward, and it throws off all his range of motion and mechanics. Often that lean forward is what he's relying on. When he goes straight up, he's very reliable.

Some of you are unable to see the trees for the forest.

Will he be elite? Who the hell knows. There's very few guarantees of anybody.

But there is plenty to point to him being far better than average. That is point trying to be made.

And with all the limitations, that he is said to have, he's still performing. The idea or the issue is many are basically saying he can never improve. When Year 1 to Year 2 has shown that he can, and has.

What's even more fun about it, is how quick guys are to trade Russell & Randle for the guys they call elite (rightfully so), who are currently the leader on terrible teams. As if gutting the team for that guy wouldn't be the same exact thing that elite player is currently doing.

Let the young guys develop, and then add elite players on top. That's the only way this team will win down the line.

The hyperbole...I'm not going to do it today. Nope.

We all remember. You can't MIB it away. :lol

Find where I put him on the clock after summer league. Did I hate the pick? Yes. Did I call him a bust early on? Yes. Do I at this very moment believe he's not going to be a star and is playing out of position? Absolutely. Did I put him #ontheclock before yesterday since we can't critique him at such a tender age? I think not, but y'all love pulling receipts so please do so.

I wonder how most of y'all stress levels are with stocks, bonds, & investments. Yeeeesh lmao
