I guess the best thing we will have seen from Cudi for awhile was his appearance at 808s....

How did you get that from that?
He's saying he's going (and already has been going) in a different direction. Which if you follow him has been clear as day. He doesn't go in and say "How do I make a better album than MOTM 2"
He says "How can I make a really dope album doing what I wanna do using the sounds I want to use"
I'm glad he spoke on this. This isn't WZRD era. Cudi has just as many albums that sound like his new one than that sound like MOTM. 3 to 3 if you count the mixtape. If you're still yearning for old Cudi you're a lost cause
Cudi done lost his ******* mindWe have reached a frequency only the chosen can hear. The more open the mind and heart, the more powerful the experience.

scotthallwithapick consider me lost then because I can't get jiggy with this new ****. People only yearn for "old" versions of artists when their recent work isn't up to par with the past music. Cudi has always been different so we can't use that fake *** excuse. Don't act like the music he's doing now is innovative in anyway, it's just a bad imitation of grunge rock.
My reading comprehension skills been A1 since standardized testing so I see clear as day what he was saying....And it's closer to what cragmatic posted than yours.
Cudi as an artist, the Cudi we love, that's not sustainable.
Emotional guy. Depression, highs and lows, drug use, etc. How can an artist make a lifetime body of work about that stuff?
MOTM1 and MOTM2 will never be replicated. On a run like that he was suppose to die after the second album. He's still alive. He's a family man now. That's life. We all love the depressed, drugged out Cudi who once in a while has songs about prospering but that person is long gone.
I appreciate MOTM1 and MOTM2 but that was manifested through a group of incredibly talented people, not just Cudi himself, you have Plain Pat, Emile, Ratatat, and Kanye contributing to that movement. That's A LOT of talent invested in a project.
Cudi is on his own trajectory now, for one reason or another he isn't going to have that team behind him (Plain Pat, Emile, Kanye, etc.) and he himself is not going to deliver anything close to MOTM. With that being said, the new song is TRASH. It is is what it is. I'll forever bump MOTM series but I won't be checking for any of his new stuff.
