It’s weird when you come across a girl who won’t let you do it.

I wouldn't call it WEIRD but some women do feel the need to prove they are self-sufficient.

I would like to make sure that I completely understand this scenario. Is the man driving? And is it his/the family car? Prior to my my awakening, and even somewhat now, I would assume that the driver or owner would pay....

I guess what I’m getting at is that y’all talk about going half on dates and what not all the time....so the dude eats that $50-60+ to fill the tank?

Whoever's driving pumps the gas which is convenient since a lot of people also believe a woman should never be driving a car with a man in it. It's just like the paying on a date thing. Whoever asks out pays which is convenient since it's the norm for men to ask.

Yeah, I didn’t know about the sides stuff either (there are multiple). Apparently the dude is supposed to walk on the side of the sidewalk closest to the road (in case of a puddle, car hopping the sidewalk, etc). The man is also allegedly supposed to sleep on the side closest to the door so just in case there is an intruder he can protect his woman.

I'm not even sure when I learned the sides thing, feels like I've always known it but I don't bother practicing it

I remember one time I was out with this girl and I just was not in the mood but we're on our way to breakfast and she makes a comment about me walking on the inside of the sidewalk and how her daddy would never and told her to make sure she dates a man that knows to walk by the street and maaaaaaaan I almost told her to go **** her father then If I did not like her as a person we would've never made it to breakfast Had to take a mental step back and be like "Chill, don't take your bad mood out on her".

Outside of a car hoping the curb (goofy/hilarious hypothetical) I feel there are more potential dangers on the INSIDE of the sidewalk than the outside.

But I don't think anyone wants to logically breakdown that practice.

A. If I KNOW you and I know it doesn't bother you
B. You ask

I say that because I have been told it was insulting to ASSUME a woman needs my help. I've been told this by multiple women in various scenarios. Work, personally, etc.

Some of these “rules” are a little too nuanced for me, personally. If I’ve been on multiple dates with you, you know what time it is and I’ll be damned if I’m going to be condemned for the side of the street that I walk on or sitting in the passenger seat, checking emails while a woman who is driving pumps the gas for her vehicle.

I remember I ****** my leg up hooping some years ago. I was on crutches for a minute and was riding in the car with my gf at the time. She pulled up to the gas station and proceeded to pump the gas, everything normal. Some old dudes at the pump next to me felt the need to tell me how I wasn’t a real man and who raised me, my woman should never touch a gas pump etc. Being young and yolo just put the middle finger up and said smd but she felt the need to talk back and tell them I was on crutches, my leg was ****** up etc. This mfer said idc, I’d crawl to the pump before my wife would pump gas in front of me..... wild times.

I got no issue with the chivalry as long as it makes sense. My last ex was zany with the independent, modern day thinking and picking and choosing the classic male roles/behavior.

I've been hit by a car on 2 occasions. I hope she's not expecting to get hit for her just b/c I'm walking on the outside. I'm moving outta the way, & hopefully she does too.

I only hold doors for women I'm related to, dating, or who are black.

My freshman year in college I held the door at a Chick-fila for a white woman and she didn't say thank you. I was pissed off for the rest of the day.
