Jordan Retro 1 '85 Black/Red Feb 14th 2025

Two of NT's favorite recent retros with retooled molds and a lot of care were the Infrared AM 90s ($140) and Air Tech Challenge Lava ($150)

Anyone thinking JB is charging $250 for these simply because of that same care is kinda out of their mind.

This is Jordan's Brand's latest evolution with the 1 - an evolution that started (after the '94 run) by retroing it as a terrible mid, then moving to making them a high, then moving to make them a high "85 cut" and now it is a stripped and retooled super 85 cut (allegedly). This brand has siphoned off the Jordan 1 four different ways to get us to buy. It's four X the fun, and none of them are a true exact clone yet (I suspect that will eventually come). They are charging that $250 cause they can, and these won't see more than one second of air before they're all gone because people will all gladly race to pay it. It's sad, because it continues to reward them, but JB knows.

A development cost doesn’t have to be recouped in one shoe release.

They, in their estimation, have created an almost historical accurate recreation. It’s not like they only make one retro one for the year. This process can be applied to EVERY retro one they release going forward. And we, especially on this forum, have given Nike plenty. No one treats their customers quite like Nike. Most of the comments have been negative on this forum. Besides seeders and retailers, no one is glowing about the situation despite how good they’ve done in recreating them 80%.
I said models plural bro... They've been updating several models, not just this one. It takes time and money. JB is looking out for us in their own way, we just gotta eat the L on this release and trust that they're gonna do right by us going forward.

JB is looking out for us?

We gotta trust they gonna do right?

Are you:

A) serious
B) DJ Akedemiks
C) Working for Nike
D) The next generation of AI?

They’re only looking out for their bottom line. CEOs got relieved. Bad earnings reports. Competition has caught them. They’re looking for a creative way to renew the retro magic.

They're a business so of course the money making aspect plays a part but I think you're severely underselling the human aspect of JB's last couple of years. They aren't perfect but they've made strides to improve certain models and we've certainly gotten some great cws. I think we're too tough on them sometimes which in turn makes them overthink. They likely saw a bunch of cws sitting so they took that as us wanting a more limited release on these. In a way, I guess you can say we kinda pressured JB into making the release so limited. Moving forward I think we need to be more conscious of the rhetoric we're spreading online towards them because they're definitely paying attention. We should rightfully call out their mishaps but it's also ok to give them their praises too when they give us drops like the reimagined wc3s.

Definitely has to be one extreme or the other.

Crappy colorways that release every two days or classic colorways that no one can get.

I’m not satisfied with anything in the middle.
But what if they’re 85% accurate? I mean why don’t they limit them crappy ice cream colors. Might as well make Retroes like Supreme Drops.

Worse is their new stuff is crap lol besides Kobe’s.

So I’m confused is it 23 physical stores or 23 retailers?

Two18 is one location

But xhibhition has several stores

I already know they’re backdooring anyways especially two18 so it doesn’t matter for us Detroit people

Retailers apparently…

10K pairs isn’t going to be many pairs allocated across multiple stores for individual retailers though…I’d imagine they’ll probably be at their flagship locations, but who knows…

this is 1 of only 2 pairs I wanted this year

paying resell would kinda defeat the purpose of me showing restraint on other releases

but I might cause I don’t really plan on buying any other jordans after this year

I just need these and the taxis

I’m cool on everything else

I'm positive it's retailers. I expect a heavy dosage of EQL raffles as well.

I’m not familiar with this channel.

Guy could be talking out of his ***, but he seems to be suggesting that he has a source.

A source who’s telling him that the US stock number is “way less than 10,000.”

If these had been limited to like 85K pairs worldwide (85 because '85) I'd have been fine with waking up at 9:59 AM to take an L on SNKRS at 10:03 AM when they sell out. At least with that, I can say I (mostly) had a fair chance at getting these. Instead, I have to deal with the knowledge of knowing these are being handed straight to resellers because the Nike/JB marketing and sales department has their heads so far up their own ***** that they can get a colonoscopy and routine dental cleaning at the same time. Unbelievable.
