I get asked from time to time if I will ever sell what I have. Its an easy no, and I always get asked why. To me its simple, I get more fulfilment having what I have, than getting money for it to spend on something else that probably will not give me the same feeling.
I question sometimes if a lot of people actually like the shoes they are buying, or like the attention they will receive more.
I have nothing exclusive, or super limited. My favorite pairs in my collection most likely ALL of you have. Knowing that would never devalue them in my eyes. If I see a kid in some Js that are rare, its hard NOT to think about how much they had to drop to get them. But if I see someone in some GRs, I look at them no different. No one my age wears the shoes I do around here. So I get double takes sometimes at ball games. But thats not what I am looking for. I wear for me. The most I enjoy as far as attention and conversation go is from people in here.

I love each shoe I have like it's the only shoe I have. I couldn't imagine selling any of them, especially the ones I got via luck driving around the city, almost getting trampled, early morning camping, etc., back in the old days. Those have stories tied to them for the most part, which I sometimes miss. Now it's kinda diluted with the hype and social media but also somewhat safer with the apps.

I sell all the time, I cycle through kicks. Some I buy back, some I don’t. Just circumstances.

But the value doesn’t matter. Nothing beats getting a new pair of kicks and lacing it up for the first time for me.

I totally agree!! I’ve never cared one bit about the “value” of a pair of shoes I own, and I’ll rock regardless of what that “value” is or becomes over time. Especially since this “value” that people place on this sht is totally made up, and completely subjective, and I personally have ZERO interest in ever selling my stuff. With that logic, if for some random reason the “value” of any of clothing instantly inflates (a random shirt, pair of socks, my jeans, etc.), I’d feel some type of way about wearing them. Again, I’m not selling my sht, so the “value” is irrelevant to me.

Now, if someone PAID that high ticket for a pair on the resell market, I can see them feeling differently about wearing said pairs.

My goal was originally to get back all the shoes I had growing up. I've succeeded with that for the most part. Only missing a pair or 2. Then it turned into pairs I loved but was never able to get. That one has proven much more difficult. I think I have wearable versions of damn near everything on the list minus like Solo Flight 90's and Air Force V Lows. Other than those goals, if I think it looks cool, I'm buying it. Like you and J Mobile said, it's never been about value to me. A lot of it is about what I coveted growing up, and now just what I think looks good and having fun with it.

All my favorite shoes are GR’s. I tend to gravitate towards the classics that are considered “bricks” on the resell market

I recall in the 90s so many kids leaving the Starter tag on hats; always looked so stupid to me. I always took off all stickers, tags, etc., and threw them out, and the shoe box (from my annual purchase) rarely made it out of the store on purchase day.

I used to be one of those people that left the sticker on my New Era hats. Problem with that is when you leave the sticker on the hat, it leaves a circle mark of residue when you peel it off. Now I take them off as soon as I get the hat. I also left the hangtag on my shoes too until I realized how much of a tool you look like wearing one

Y’all were complaining about the white leather being cracked but in those pictures up there that black ankle collar looking wild flagrant. Still 2 pairs min though!
