Since when is it weird to work at amc at 23?

idk just thought it'd be weird to tell people i'm making minimum wage at age 23 i guess it's a pride thing cause we live in the age where everyone flexes these days and i've grown accustom to that false reality where i'm supposed to make a large sum every week and drive a m3

I mean it sucks seeing people having fun while your working. I worked at Regal Cinemas in HS and during the Holidays of my 1st year of college. There were people in their 30s working there. Its an easy job if you work Box OFfice, Concession sucks but is fast paced so time flies, and cleaning theaters is easy.

i aint sweating the seeing people having fun part too much i'm honestly not discouraged of the work load at work i guess i'm expecting too much like starting off at 9$+ hourly salary for my age but really a jobs a job and i'm need anything to save up for a 02-04 rsx...i need to change my mindset and just get on my grind.

If you're in SF (other major cities as well, I'm not exactly sure which ones) and have a car, look into becoming a Lyft driver. I have a real job, but I am a lyft driver as well. Drivers get to keep 85% of the fare which is pretty good. I give a total of like 3-4 people a ride per day before and after going into my regular job, that's like $30-40/day right there which pays for my gas and toll + some. You can make a lot more if you drive the whole day, especially friday and saturday nights, but I don't do that. The extra money is just a plus to me, being a driver allows me to network and meet new people. I've met tons of people that work in the same industry/field as me and we trade business cards and what not. There's also a lot of cute women that use lyft. Every time a cutie gets in my car, I make it a challenge to get their number before the ride is over. So far it's working out pretty well.

Also, the real cab/taxi drivers can get hostile at times because lyft/uber/side car/etc... are taking business away from them. They be straight mean muggin and mouthing off sometimes to me. I might have to get rid of the pink mustache all together to avoid any confrontations or have anyone mess with my car.

do you know if the riders go through background check as well or do they just pay for using the app. my friend signs up but he slacks off on giving lifts, lol

^passengers do not have to pass a background check. That would kill lyft all together. No one is going to get their background checked just to get a ride.

Passengers only have to download the app, register for an account (through facebook login) and enter their credit card info.

my compensation package is more than adequate as a DM (it's on their website)
make no mistake about it, you have to earn your money. def not a cake job
aldi's structure is diff from many other grocery stores.

- very small store staff (10-12 employees at most)
- not a typical cashier, youre responsible for stocking, cleaning & misc store duties. you should spend the least amt of time at the cash register.
- full time role guarantees you 20 hours, part time(casual) doesnt guarantee any hours. east coast is busy so as a full timer i think youd average abt 30 hrs.
- very physical job, youre always moving. every day goes by fast
- shift managers earn $4.50/hr more on top of their cashier wage (sometimes youre shift manager, sometimes youre cashier)
- everyone gets paid $1/hr more on sundays
- mgmt structure is diff too, you cant be fired by your direct leader
- unions = no sir

just came back from an interview.

here's a small tip I've learned from interviewing with a few companies...

most companies that don't really talk about themselves and try to sell YOU the position... always turns out to be a crap company.

the last company I worked for... my title was for a specialist position aka... "company slave" position.

I just came back from the most ridiculous interview I've had in awhile...

I don't even know the position I was applying for by the time I left the office... I don't even think the person interviewing me knows the position neither.

I even asked a few times.

Hopefully I get a call from this oil company near my house... I pray to god I do.  There's always structure in older companies.

Anyways, this place might lowball me... anyone have any idea how to counter offer? 

They might put me in the 13-15 dollar range when I want to get paid around the 17-19 dollar range...

The thing about counter-offers is... I don't know if you should do that in a low position that I'm asking for.  Please any help.

finally got a callback after an interview. went through amc's interview process yesterday and got a callback for employment today. i decided to accept since they said it'll be flexible on my hours only problem now is im 23...idk if thats weird or not for me to be working there i'm aware that it is a job for younger adults like fresh outta high school kids or something idk..

I was able to move up to booth projectionist and got some good raises (back then) on the way. It's most likely seasonal for the summer, so make a good impression in case you need to stay. And it's true though, the job is more geared towards young adults, but you did see those lifer types who just ended up settling there. Still, ain't no shame, it's a job.

cool *** job, travel the world, free healthcare, every basic need is taken care of so all your base pay is disposable income, free training and experience on a job you could use on the outside world, Tuition Assistance and GI Bill.

thanks man, i keep on having 2nd thoughts about accepting the job but i gotta start looking at the brightside of things. ive been unemployed for a year and half so anything is better than nothing. i dont have major bills to pay for since im still in college and i can take my girl to free movies now i'll stay positive and not let that minimum wage amount or age discourage me.

if it's for a resume... i'll just leave it blank or put down how much I made at my last job.

if you leave it blank... you'll def. talk about it during the interview.  I'm not too sure about your situation so I can't comment.

Today during my interview I asked for 35k to 45k and the interviewer straight up told me 45k might be too much. Which is cool with me whatevers.

But then the second interviewer straight up told me 35k was too much.  I just gave him a bert stare... and he quickly changed the subject.

These employers know they're lowballing the f*** outta the desperate... which just pisses me off.  But whatevers man... tread carefully if you're still entry level.

Its not the best way but googling the position and checking out the salary range helps. I would still keep it on the high side so you dont get lowballed. If want you but cant pay you that much they will let you know.

Not trying to sound...stuck up, but the amount of lowballing that's going on is crazy. People offering 11/hour and want you to have a degree + experience to be an Admin Assistant and I live in DC.

Crazy thing is the damn whole foods pays 10+ hour to bag groceries...

i had a handwritten letter as well. i tried calling prior, but lady avoided my calls. the interview went really well and i really hit it off but she went with another candidate. pretty sure she was waiting for that person to accept or decline, as i was the second in line.

I think the only reason they hired me was because of my availabilty, I'm not in school at the moment.

my mom works for the jewel osco bakery, shes only supposed to work about 12 hours a week just like every one else but she works 30+ hours a week so maybe whole foods will be like that for you

I hope they don't give me more than 30 a week. But at the same time I would like to work at least 4 days out of the week. Especially since this Whole Foods is located right across UM

Had to settle for a crap Macy's job with horrible pay and stupid dress code for a stock associate . Might not even show up and take my chances being a trapstar lol

Man you buggin, talking bout having second thoughts. People would do anything to be in your position. You know how long I've been unemployed?Last time I worked was in March of 2010, I was still in high school at that time. I'm in college part time, but I've been in and out because I needed money to pay for classes. Since graduating high school I had to break my back doing jobs like roofing, construction, and interior demolition just to raise money for classes. I'm thankful I finally got hired for an "official" job and I don't have to break my back anymore for a crappy under the table salary.

I've determined that i would like to work on a college campus. Not sure if I want to recruit or just do something that's admissions related, but I truly think that a collegiate setting is my niche.

I've been unemployed for exactly one month and I haven't had so much as an interview. That's about to change tho. Im about to be filling out so many applications that it's not even funny.

Best of luck to anyone that's in a similar boat, it's no fun I know. I wish I was one of those corporate minded individuals that knew every position to apply for a d which industry to shoot for.
