Still most entertaining thread in s&t imo.

Kobe has played in 1,047 games so far and dished it for 4,888 assists for a career average of 4.7 per game.
KB had better teammates in his career and better scorers but averaged less assists.
Jordan was a better shooter, defender and passer. Read my last three stories or just look it up for yourself What s next? Rebounding? Yep, that's my next story!!!
Kb #9 greatest ever - MJ #1 ever - these are three stories straight why that is so obvious.

You don't really get assists from big men. Especially one like Shaq. The only way to get assists through a big man is alley oops and pick and rolls. Shaq was a post player.. You throw it into Shaq. He dribbles twice and makes his move, that is not an assist. And we all know Shaq did all of his work from the post.
Kobe never had the type of complimentary wing players that Jordan had.
That's where a 2 guard will get his assists from.
That's just a clear ignorance of basketball on your part.
You do realize that there are many who do agree with me not only on this thread, but throughout the internet and outside world, right?Agreed. It should be renamed Longstroke vs. The world
… it's no contest. Jordan wins by any calculation.[sup]6[/sup] And Magic remains the second-best guard ever, at least if you're going by those numbers. Career playoff averages don't help Kobe's case, either.Jordan: 30.1 PPG, 6.2 RPG, 5.3 APG, 50% FG, 84% FT, 27.9 PER, .250 WS/48, 5 MVPs
Magic: 19.5 PPG, 7.2 RPG, 11.2 APG, 52% FG, 85% FT, 23.0 PER, .208 WS/48, 3 MVPs.
Bryant: 25.4 PPG, 5.3 RPG, 4.7 APG, 45% FG, 84% FT, 23.5 PER, .185 WS/48, 1 MVP
We're still not arguing. Jordan's 33.5 PPG remains the highest ever — nobody else even cracked 30. Magic's 12.4 APG remains the highest ever — nobody else even cracked 10.2. Remember my 42 Club to account for players who averaged a combined 42-plus points, rebounds and assists in the same postseason playing at least 13 games? Only Jordan, Wilt, LeBron, Elgin, Pettit and Russell belong to the Career 42 Club. So there's that.Jordan: 33.5 PPG, 6.4 RPG, 5.7 APG, 41.8 MPG, 49% FG, 83% FT, 28.6 PER, .255 WS/48, 6 rings, 6 MVPs
Magic: 19.5 PPG, 7.7 RPG, 12.4 APG, 39.7 MPG, 51/84%, 23.0 PER, .208 WS/48, 5 rings, 3 MVPs
Bryant: 25.6 PPG, 5.1 RPG, 4.7 APG, 39.3 MPG, 45% FG, 82% FT, 22.4 PER, .157 WS/48, 5 rings, 2 MVPs
… and keep in mind, Kobe is still going. Now look at this.Jordan: 13 All-Stars (3 MVPs), 10 first-team All-NBAs (1 second-team), 1 Defensive P.O.Y.
Magic: 12 All-Stars (2 MVPs), 9 first-team All-NBAs (1 second-team), 0 Defensive P.O.Y.
Bryant: 13 All-Stars (4 MVPs), 10 first-team All-NBAs (2 second-team), 0 Defensive P.O.Y.
And the playoff numbers …Jordan: 1,072 games, 41,011 minutes, 32,292 points (fourth all time), 214.0 WS (fourth).
Magic: 906 games, 33,245 minutes, 17,707 points, 10,141 assists (fourth), 155.8 WS (22nd).
Bryant: 1,180 games, 43,077 minutes (17th), 30,016 points (sixth), 166.01 WS (17th)
If you were wondering, Jordan and Kobe are the only members of the 5K/1K/1K Playoff Club AND the 4K/1K/1K Playoff Club. And again, Kobe is still going. Which is an entirely different conversation.Jordan: 179 playoff games, 7,474 minutes, 5,987 points, 1,152 rebounds, 1,022 assists.
Magic: 190 playoff games, 7,538 minutes, 3,701 points, 1,465 rebounds, 2,346 assists.
Bryant: 220 playoff games, 8,641 minutes, 5,640 points, 1,119 rebounds, 1,040 assists.
the point of the article is that kobe has achieved his success his way. just because he has achieved his success in the way that works for him and not in the way you would like does not discredit his achievements and where he stands among the all-time greats. kobe is top 10.That article sounds strangely familiar.
I wonder if the Kobephants are going to start taking shots at the author now.
Do you really think that it is up to you, to suggest what people should walk away with after reading such an article?the point of the article is that kobe has achieved his success his way. just because he has achieved his success in the way that works for him and not in the way you would like does not discredit his achievements and where he stands among the all-time greats. kobe is top 10.
LOL at Kobe Stans constantly mentioning that we should automatically respect him because "he's having his most efficient year ever."
And?
He's efficiency has always been average... I'm not going to give the guy credit because he finally has gone a 20 game stretch without shooting average to below average. He'll be at 45% at the end of the season, making it 17 straight seasons under 47%.
A career of ballhogging at 45% = a lot a makes, even more misses.
Kobe Bryant is just a JR Smith who happened to fall into the laps of a bunch of unguardable 7-footers + the GOAT coach.
Latrell Sprewell could have done the same if he was that lucky.
Are you suggesting that people cannot disagree with Bill Simmons?Bill Simmons HATES Kobe, and has him 7 or 8 all time.
It's the same reason that hookers get attention. It's not because they are actually good at having sex.So many articles written about an overrated player. Gosh.
Why would anyone give some overrated player so much attention? Golly.

what one takes away from anything is solely up to that person. i just posted this article to show that even one of the biggest celtics fans and one the biggest basketball followers since the league started to shape itself has kobe as a top 10 player.Do you really think that it is up to you, to suggest what people should walk away with after reading such an article?
Really?
I'd bet you fail to grasp what I am really asking here.
one thing is to dislike kobe and another thing is to dislike kobe and use that dislike as a basis of where he stands among the greats. simmons keeps it 100. ive always valued his point of view because he keeps it 100 and has followed the nba for years. very knowledgeable and creditable writer.Bill Simmons HATES Kobe, and has him 7 or 8 all time.
