HUARACHE LE RETRO 30th anniversary release this year???

http://www.dutycalculator.com/new-i...on/saved_calculations/view_details/168820535/

Take a look at this. Estimated duty and taxes on two pairs of these would be $24-$25. If that is actually correct, the cost of shipping (especially depending on the site... I know one only does free international shipping on orders over 100 GBP and charges more on shipping than one of the others) would be around the same or a little more than the duty. I think I'm just going to buy both pairs together and roll the dice on the duty. $200 declared value is the minimum amount required for them to look at it, but it doesn't mean it will get looked at. So in theory with DHL shipping it's possible they get through with no duty at all and you're looking at $258 for both pairs shipped.

Someone PLEASE shoot me a pm. I'm not too hip to these Euro sites. I found 1 so far, but don't want to put all my eggs into just one basket.

This thread....

Straight Dikembe-ing on lurkers.....(if ur really fiending shoot me a pm and ill help as much as possible...)

Quick question though since I usually don't buy more than a pair from these foreign sites: if you buy both colorways are you pretty much guaranteed a customs hit?

I'm not sure it's a given that you'll get bit by customs.

See, that's how things USED to be.  Been here for 11+ years (including lurking) and the landscape of this sneaker thing has changed A LOT.  When I first joined, there was no Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.  Shoe boutiques were few and far between, and those stores that were around usually didn't have websites that you could purchase product from.  So sharing info then was crucial and essential.  And even more important than sharing information was dudes physically going to cop sneakers for people that didn't have access to them, whether it be because they were a Euro-only release or you just lived in an area of the U.S. that didn't get good releases.

Fast forward to 2013 and there are tons of boutiques.  They all have websites.  They all have a Facebook page, as well as Twitter and Instagram accounts.  Anyone with half a brain can find what they're looking for IF they take the time to do so.  This is awesome because the access to dope shoes is unparalleled.  But I also see it as a curse because now you're literally competing with the world to cop a pair of sneakers.

All that said, Niketalk is still a community, but things have changed.  NT is a well known force in the sneaker world--easily the most popular website regarding sneaker information, IMO.  Sure, you have a jillion sneaker blogs out there who essentially recycle the same news.  But Niketalk is a place to go where all that info is in one place, and where that info is updated in real time based on member contributions--you don't get that with the sneaker blogs.  Again, this is great but it can also be seen as a negative thing when it comes to certain releases, IMO.  For a release like these Huaraches (seemingly somewhat limited and Euro-only at this point), do we really need to spoon feed the folks who don't really want these?  Now you'll ask how I know if someone really wants these or not, right?  Simple--if someone really wants these they won't be in this thread asking for information on what stores are releasing these, what time they drop, etc.  They'll know because they took the time to research about a shoe they really want.  Like I said before, it is suuuuper easy to figure the information out in this age of social media--it literally takes seconds to do a Twitter or Google search to get the info.

So not posting links isn't about being in a cool club.  It isn't about being a OG NT vet or some crap like that.  It simply is about giving those who have really been anticipating this release a slightly better chance (even if it is perceived lol) at scoring these.  If someone wants these, they don't need to be spoon fed--they'll put their own work in and plan accordingly.  Just my 2 cents.

Repped.

I'm all for sharing info and helping others - especially those who contribute themselves (lots of NTers do lots of taking without much giving), but the problem here is systemic even way beyond sneakers.

It's the old 80/20 rule - in any job, 80% of the work is done by 20% of the people.

So, it's annoying to constantly have unfamiliar screen names popping in at the midnight hour of each release asking for - no, scratch that - feeling entitled to - all the needed info dropped into their lap, especially when it almost always exists in the thread in which the question is being asked. So, not only do we have to supply info - we have to work to supply it at your demand. It gets really tiresome. It's one thing when you have a 200-page thread moving at a page every 90 minutes, but if somebody can't skim through 5 - 10 pages of info to find the answer to their question - or confirm it wasn't answered already before asking it, then why should I expend any time or energy to help that person. ...Don't help anybody who isn't willing to help him/herself.

Anyone have a problem with posting the links a little bit after they've gone live? I feel like all of us that are dead set on purchasing these will go ahead and take care of our business up front. I just find it hard to believe that dudes on here don't know what the UK sneaker sites are that would be carrying these. Use the search function rather than us spoon feeding you info. It's not as if these sites haven't been mentioned ad nausea on NT over the past year(s).

I'm all for posting info and helping out others, but I don't want to ruin it for the people in this thread who have done their homework.  Piece of cake to find info on this release if you actually try.  Looks like tonight's workout is going to be delayed an hour, lol.  All good since I'm going to be waiting a bit for UPS anyways.

Exactly.

I've put far too much time into making accounts and adding addresses/payment info on these sites.  Gonna be tight if I miss out because I'll probably never buy anything else from them after this drop.

I highly doubt these are a mad dash. The UK likely doesn't even care about these and hardly anyone stateside knows about them. We made it to a whopping 5th page of this thread. I'll get back to you in 90 minutes but I'm not concerned.

HAHA did the same thing....

I heard half size will be scarce...which is what I need so we'll see

Haha, another good point. I just tried to ship a t-shirt... a T-SHIRT from VA to London and USPS was going to charge $30, at the lowest rate. So I can't imagine how much shipping + customs is going to be now with a pair of shoes.
im pretty sure you should be good with customs if the declared value is under $250 USD coming into the US.

i ship internationally all the time, and the price hike USPS had in the beginning of the year is ridiculous. paying for shipping from the UK sites isn't too horrible though.  some sites better than others, but still not too bad.

Just got an email from a site dropping these tomorrow. Price (and I hope I converted it correctly) is just under $200

EDIT: nevermind, they're already up on the site and shipped total is over $200

Half-size dude here, too.  One site that already has them up had no 11.5 available.

I'm hoping this isn't a sign of what's to come in a few minutes.

easy cop from Hanon. only picked up the green/gold pair. i'm hoping the screams and purple colorways drop too.

You were saying...

So glad this ended up being easy. Cop of 2013 so far. Doesn't get any better than classic OG colorways done right for $125 or less shipped.

One down.  Waiting on the other link.  Best price out there so I'll grab both and be done with it.
