See, that's how things USED to be. Been here for 11+ years (including lurking) and the landscape of this sneaker thing has changed A LOT. When I first joined, there was no Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. Shoe boutiques were few and far between, and those stores that were around usually didn't have websites that you could purchase product from. So sharing info then was crucial and essential. And even more important than sharing information was dudes physically going to cop sneakers for people that didn't have access to them, whether it be because they were a Euro-only release or you just lived in an area of the U.S. that didn't get good releases.
Fast forward to 2013 and there are tons of boutiques. They all have websites. They all have a Facebook page, as well as Twitter and Instagram accounts. Anyone with half a brain can find what they're looking for IF they take the time to do so. This is awesome because the access to dope shoes is unparalleled. But I also see it as a curse because now you're literally competing with the world to cop a pair of sneakers.
All that said, Niketalk is still a community, but things have changed. NT is a well known force in the sneaker world--easily the most popular website regarding sneaker information, IMO. Sure, you have a jillion sneaker blogs out there who essentially recycle the same news. But Niketalk is a place to go where all that info is in one place, and where that info is updated in real time based on member contributions--you don't get that with the sneaker blogs. Again, this is great but it can also be seen as a negative thing when it comes to certain releases, IMO. For a release like these Huaraches (seemingly somewhat limited and Euro-only at this point), do we really need to spoon feed the folks who don't really want these? Now you'll ask how I know if someone really wants these or not, right? Simple--if someone really wants these they won't be in this thread asking for information on what stores are releasing these, what time they drop, etc. They'll know because they took the time to research about a shoe they really want. Like I said before, it is suuuuper easy to figure the information out in this age of social media--it literally takes seconds to do a Twitter or Google search to get the info.
So not posting links isn't about being in a cool club. It isn't about being a OG NT vet or some crap like that. It simply is about giving those who have really been anticipating this release a slightly better chance (even if it is perceived lol) at scoring these. If someone wants these, they don't need to be spoon fed--they'll put their own work in and plan accordingly. Just my 2 cents.
