HBO'S "Insecure" [ Created by Issa Rae ► Season III: 2020 ]

Maybe I need to rewatch the 1st episodes of past seasons because it wasn't that bad to me.

Glad they didn't drag out the Issa doesn't know her new friend is dating her ex

They gotta get Molly off the show. Character hasn't advanced at all.

Been finding it harder and harder to understand her character.

One minute she’s the woman who’s seemingly attempting to fiercely take on the legal world, then the next she’s in therapy questioning the decisions she makes as she attempts to take on the legal world.

One minute she has a good guy (eg Lil Rel), then the next she will be drawn to the bad guy who inevitably hurts her and bruises her ego (eg Dro, Jidenna, etc).

One minute she’s trying to grow with Issa, being what seems to be a true friend, and then the next she’s tearing Issa down when Issa gives her constructive criticism that she asked for.

Her character seems to do a lot of self destructive stuff that she later has to grapple with. Ultimately she always ends up apologetic for her actions, so there’s something to be said for that. On that same token, though, after a point you should check yourself and evaluate why you continue to run into these same pitfalls that you yourself designed.

All good points. I guess they’re going to build up to her taking accountability’s based on the convo she and Issa had. Thats probably going to be the theme of their relationships for this season.

With how they opened the episode with Issa saying she doesn’t f with her anymore, I thought they introduced the tension far too soon. Plus we’ve seen them beef already so idk how interested I’m going to be with that plot line

TSA **** buddy was funny  Welcome to a full size *****

The premiere was cool to me. Picked up where it left off. I just think a lot of yall forgot yall dont like this show or these characters. Don't get while yall still watching after the way ya reacted to s3.

Also what don't yall understand about Molly? I don't get the confusion. She's a person. She's messy, contradictory, doesn't know what she wants, and judgemental. I get she's unlikable to many but that's pretty much as far as it goes. She'd rather be all opinionated about who Issa stays friends with than self-reflect. That's been clear for a while now.

Issa is trying to impress Colander because she aspires to be like her. Shes buying/returning clothes all the time because she think's it'll impress her. She doesn't have the prestige client network like her so she's iffy about the apartment residents actually showing up.

Molly is naive and a narcissist. If things don't go her way she'll start blaming others even if her blame is right in her face. She like's calling out other peoples issue.

We get that. She’s been that for 3 seasons. I need to see growth.

This is the point I’m driving at. We’ve seen this narcissism repeated for 3 seasons and it’s got no sign of letting up in season 4. This is a character we’ve seen attend therapy to do the work on herself (which is admirable). But the writers aren't showcasing very much growth and development.

Some ppl don't.

And some do, so this is just a cyclical argument.

I don’t think questioning or critiquing characters means we don’t like the show. Some mf’s are really just interested in seeing more.

Not really. If you acknowledge some ppl don't then just put Molly in that group.

I'm not even talking about that. Go back a page or two. It was a straight up hatefest for s3 and it wasnt about the writing or critiquing character choices.

Ppl just straight up agreed the show was trash now and were basically hate watching until the finale except for the love for Lawrence :lol

I'm fine with Molly's character. Do yall understand how many women out there are exactly like that ? (Trust me, I've met them. :lol )

Molly is only a character, but her experiences are very real; and that's what I like about this show. They do a good job telling relatable stories.

(Solid music choices this episode too.)

That may be true but this is a tv show. Showing the same plot line gets old

This is assuming it'll end up the same way. They might kill Molly off and you wouldn't see it coming.

Also a gang of shows good and bad basically repeat the same plot each season and just change story elements and environment so fans dont notice.

I don’t think it’s that deep. She may aspire to be like her because she seems to be good at what she does but I don’t think Issa is trying to impress her. They are working together. Issa knows she needs her help. I thought the clothes were for the investors she’s been meeting with. Same reason she didn’t wantthe residents at the mixer because it was for investors. It wasn’t the actual block party and clearly she can’t take some of her residents or her brother everywhere she goes

What is this about? :nerd:

basically the person that got that bogus conversation going is completely full of ****
