HBO'S "Insecure" [ Created by Issa Rae ► Season III: 2020 ]

Lawrence and ole girl only been dating for a few months and still getting to know each other. What Issa may think is harmless info could still be a bad look for Lawrence. Let him and ole girl learn about each other on their own.
facts lawrences addressing issa in person to set the limit was a good play.. Lawrence 2-0 this season

Also, when Molly was having her issues with Asian bae she called Issa and Issa couldn't pick up because she was at the concert The show tried to make it seem like that was creating a rift or and showing that Issa wasn't there for Molly when she needed help.

I mean c'mon: these are grown adults in their 30s, this idea that you can call your friend, even your best friend, and literally any point of the day and they should pick up is unrealistic. Grown people have jobs, kids and other obligations. It's unrealistic to expect anyone to be available all the time.
I didn't take it that seriously.

Just that Molly was annoyed she couldn't get her feelings off her chest right there and then. She ended up holding back.

That **** gonna blow up in his face.

He's lucky Issa called him to ask if he brought up meeting her and telling her not to talk to Condola about him.

That was definitely shown to present a rift. Including Issa asking ol girl to stay and sit with her and Molly for lunch.
To me that's just naturally showing how females are that touchy and sensitive.

Molly's shown she's had an issue with Condola once she learned she was dating Lawrence and has way more negative feelings concerning that then Issa.

You might want to rewatch both episodes. They're definitely foreshadowing a beef between the two.

There's also Issa raising her eyebrow when the big friend had already knew Molly was smashing the Asian dude.

That's pretty clear given the start of the season was in the future where Issa and Molly arent friends but it also looks like more of the same to me.

The first episode kicks off with Issa on the phone at some point in the future saying that she doesn't really **** with Molly anymore, I'm not sure if anything happening now can be considered foreshadowing after that

All their interactions this season are clearly about to build to that fall out.

It’s funny that she mad that Issa didn’t pick up the phone when last episode after Tiffany dropped the bomb, Issa called her and she didn’t answer. Molly even said “Why didn’t you call me?”
To me, molly really be out here treating Issa like trash. It’s okay for molly say and do stuff to and for Issa but the second Issa tries to do the same, it’s a problem

Aight.

Derrick (that's his name right?) was talking a lil too tough for a man fathering next man's baby. That scene threw me off. Again, Issa was aight this episode. I like the hustle, I like the self-prioritization, I like that she's trying to make (potentially healthier) friends. I see the lil nod to progessive/modern masculinity and male sexuality. I'm not down with the finger in the booty "button" but ay to each their own. Condom scene was a bit extra though.

I like how Lawrence handled their discussing him in the end. Props to Issa for being cool about it too. She could've blown up his spot and she not only didn't but asked him how he wanted her to play it after the fact. They really over each other in a healthy way. Respect. "We can just hang up." had me though.

Molly vindicated in the end but still, Issa and Andrew (Asian dude name right?) kinda right. Everything is a problem. I mean speak up if you have a problem, but if that problem is that you weren't clear on what you wanted from the jump that's more of a self-created issue. But at least she knows what she really wants now.

Solid episode. This season pretty good thus far. Random thought, I kinda think next season should be the last one. 5 seasons is a solid run and I'm enjoying seeing everyone's growth, seeing that yuppie millennial life is cool, but I don't want it to get stale.

What you saying is right and logical but you know people don't operate out of straight logic. It's believed nowadays that if you are "besties" then no matter the time or what's going on you s'posed to be available at any time. It's def unrealistic but that's what people expect, which is why both of them pressed each other a lil bit about the other not being available when they called.

Lawrence addressing Issa in person wasn't really a good play, he just handled it well. I understand that he can be concerned Issa could be sowing some negative seeds into his new chick so he wants to cut that short but to hold a secret meeting asking Issa to leave him out isn't going to play well for him in the long run.
A real W would have been telling his girl how he felt instead of acting like things were cool just to go behind her back and talk to his ex AND keep that conversation with his ex a secret

But at least she knows what she really wants now.

Molly's issue is that she used that typical 'round about way women talk about an issue but never really say what the issue is. She turned a natural concern that he's not sharing into a hostile conversation and practically added an ultimatum. She has a legitimate issue but she's treating it like he just supposed to know it's an issue and will take the hints but if you really have feelings for somebody dropping hints about a major issue is hustling backwards to happiness

whats everyones thoughts on episode 2?

More tension building up between Issa and Molly. They made us wait a year for a new season, so it’s my hopes that they stop wasting time and get to the inevitable conflict.

Their friendship just seems forced at this point, so I’m eager to see things either implode or be resolved.

Molly trying to have her cake and eat it too. Women who toot the “I don’t want anything serious” horn shouldn’t care whether the person they’re kicking with is opening up to them. You made your intentions clear up front to keep things casual. Either continue on that path, or be an adult and admit that you’ve developed feelings. She tries too hard to be the tough guy.

I feel Lawrence 100% on not wanting to be discussed among his girl and his ex. The situation between you two is already awkward as is, so keep me out of it. That’s going to blow up eventually and shorty will find out they saw each other. Probably be upset that they didn’t tell her about it.

Lawrence didn’t come off as trying to have a secret meeting. I think him pulling up was a decent idea. They were together 5 years and they ended things on a decent note. Sometimes you can’t tell tone via text. And with a phone call you can’t read body language to determine the seriousness of it.

I do think it was weird that she called him to ask if it was bad to bring the meeting up after the meeting was supposed to be about stop talking about him.
I’m definitely calling that they will get back together. They are the best versions of themselves that they wanted in each other.

I feel Lawrence 100% on not wanting to be discussed among his girl and his ex. The situation between you two is already strange. I wouldn’t want to be involved in any sense. That’s bound to fall apart at any minute. His girl will probably get upset that he saw Issa and didn’t tell her about it.

I can see why Issa would call to check with Lawrence, she's clumsy with her words at times and she needed confirmation if this was an okay situation to even address. There's no way Condola doesn't find out and step way back from Law-Dawg for a lil bit if not completely away.

I don't think they'll get back together tho, seems like they are decently finished with each other
Lawrence def seems like he's very much so over her and Issa seems like she's finding her way away from him as well

I guess I’m alone, the main story line about your ex dating your friend is boring as ****. This isn’t interesting enough for a full season.

Molly’s character is annoying. She needs less screen time.

This season is 0-2 so far.

that condom falling out of her was foul as hell. i threw up a little

feel like they could be doing more with her character than presenting her as some wishy washy/unlucky in love type. i get that she has it all except for a strong serious relationship, but her constant inner struggles kinda have an expiration date with empathy

i really like how the show captures visuals of the parts of la that have lots of life and energy yet have often gone ignored or unnoticed. the landscape aerial shots can be really stunning
