Word was Taylor Lautner, carries an unconfirmed reputation amongst the West Hollywood chatterati of having used Singer as a launching pad.
Meaning Lautner was getting pounded by singer and friends so that he could have a successful career in Hollywood.
she was 23 young and attractive and still had a future career. Why not get paid to be quiet and continue your career. Or tell the truth try to get justice if the "episode" was that serious and get blackballed. Especially we talking 1997. $100,000 went a longer way back then.
but now she saying he raped her.
thats hollywood
its the price you have to pay. either get out or be quiet
the entertainment biz is a dirty world. why do you think all the child sex stories are out there? these people protect those sickos. thats why its never a good idea to have children look up to these actors and musicians. they get put in a position of power and think they are god.
oh no not superman tooHeard the same about Brandon Routh with superman returns
Your mans Oliver Stone out here defending Weinstein & of course this exist
I’m just saying it looks weak to get on the soap box now knowing she took the settlement and stayed quiet for 20 years. Not to mention, she still worked with dude’s company after the fact, but wants Amazon to cut ties with his company.
Not at all surprising. Hang out in Beverly Hills for a while and realize how many weirdos with money there are.
It's sad tho.
Its not weak In fact saying that is the main reason victims don't speak up sooner. Victims don't speak up immediately is because people dont believe and actively try to discredit them if they do speak up immediately so they dont even waste time speaking up, they dont go to the cops cause they know the cops dont give a damn to look into it (sidebar I always found it funny that dudes I know and see who just like me know the justice system dont have our best interest in mind and dont care to help us get justice when we the victims of injustices but when women are the victim dudes I know and see suddenly have all this faith in the justice system on some "well he wasnt found guilty, innocent till proven guilt she was lyin...blah blah steez"...really reminds me of how white people try to discredit us when we done wrong but I digress....)
They usually don't have the courage to speak up till years later until they see other's speak up because there is power in numbers and its encouraging to see people who went through the same thing speak up and it gives them the strength too as well. But then people call them weak for waiting so long to speak up....Its a lose lose for the victim no matter what they do because people always rather spend more time criticizing the victim instead of damning the assaulter.
Because if its a he said she said case in any situation people tend to question motives as they should. Without solid evidence people should question if the person did the deed especially if the punishment is as harsh as the punishment for rape. You ready to send men to prison for up to 20 years just off the words of women like this the 1930s and women are seen as the more innocent sex.
and dont use the racist analogy its weak. Racist crimes has happened been proven with solid evidence but simply had it thrown under the rug to protect the guilty. To use the racist argument for analogy is a slap in the face to black people that were an attacked class through out American history vs women a protected class through out American history. Its two different situations.
First off there is a difference between asking questions when there is a lack of evidence and actively victim blaming like people tend to do. And I already addressed there is a reason there is a lack of evidence and that’s because police and the justice system don’t take cases of sexual assault seriously not to mention American society as a whole.
Second off I didn’t say nothing about sending anyone to jail off of words I was only speaking on peoples tendency to blame the victim whether the speak up quickly or not and why they don’t speak up quickly or ever at all
third the racism analogy isn’t weak, read any current peer reviewed articles actual data and research in these subjects on racism, sexism and intersectionality in general and you’ll see that. You act like there haven’t been cases of rape or sexual assault with good enough evidence that haven’t been properly punished either because that does happen as well. The situations aren’t as different as you’d like to think they are.
And finally I’m a black man you talking about me making that parallel is a slap in the face to black people and then say women have been a protected class in American history....have you forgotten black women exist? Saying that is a slap in the face to them, black women’s blackness and womenhood has been assualted and discriminated against as long as this country has existed.....And what America are you talking about women are a protected class cause that couldn’t be further from the truth this country was built by rich white men for rich white man they the only protected class in the history of this country. You the same dude that was on another page in this thread talking about feminazis secretly righting laws to suppress men...sounding like this paranoid white people who though president Obama was gonna institute sharia law...so it’s hard to take your thoughts seriously on this.

Again, she took him to court and took a SETTLEMENT in exchange for her silence and STILL worked with his company years later. Don’t try to turn my post into some victim shaming thing because I didn’t say anything about the other victims who got assaulted and didn’t get a dime from him or even a court case. TO ME, it’s not a good look to take hush money when you’ve been done wrong, especially to the degree of rape. Also, I think NYTimes released that information about taking a settlement, not her. I don’t think she even mentioned it. If you want us to sympathize then give us the whole story. Why did you take the settlement? Why did you continue to work with dude after being raped? And I’m not relieving dude of his crimes either, send him to jail.

Ion wanna be rich and famous that bad.
That's the thing about those celebrities - you can be sure that anyone who became famous really, really wanted that lifestyle. Like really bad. So bad that they were prepared to sell their souls. Nobody stopped any of those people on the street and asked them "Would you like to be rich and famous?" and then gave them a bunch of money, that's for sure.
