Guardians of the Galaxy (Film) - 8/1/14 - Starring Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Zoe Saldana, Benic

Hahahaha... Yeah I agree I can't see fox putting a movie out that comes anywhere close to the worse marvel studios movie..
Days of Future Past
Pretty much. I think dofp beats out stuff like Thor 1-2, IM2-3. While it still IMO isn't white what I want out of an xmen movie, I can't say it wasn't a solid film despite my high standards

Was this mentioned before that Marvel offices are tearing down images of Fantastic Four on their walls and might phase out the comic book series because it just gives FOX free promotion?

After watching GotG and the roll Disney/Marvel Studios is having, I am convinced that if Disney/Marvel put out West Coast Avengers, it would be better FOX's FF

^That negotiatiin is what im tahm bout. According to a few o grace's old videos Sony basically owns Spidey if insider rumors are true.
Did Marvel have lawyers when making these ridiculous deals?

Gotta understand the state Marvel was in back in the days.  Think they filed for bankruptcy or whatever so they didn't really have leverage in bargaining with anyone.

Lol no, you're misunderstanding. Marvel made a deal with Sony a decade ago yes. But there was recent renegotiation between Disney and Sony to make the terms of that arrangement even more beneficial for Sony.

You two are taking about two different deals.

Sony and Disney are very buddy buddy right now. Fox and Disney seem to be on each other's throats

Lol didn't read the exchange behind you and sunshine - just read his quote and that was it - my bad.  Right on for the clarification.  Damn that was a bad deal..

Sony let Disney have all the merchandising rights, while Sony got involvement in their movies from Marvel Studios who now have more say, I believe. Pretty sure this is just to put each other on "good terms" with one another and will hopefully pan out for the fans by seeing Spidey with the Avengers some day. Right now, I really don't see a reason why they couldn't be sharing the same universe.

It probably would've been sweeter for Sony if it was the other way around.

Let Sony have all the merchandising rights, and let Disney do all the legwork spending their money on making Spidey movies.

Sony doesn't have to use any money to produce Spidey movies, but they still reap all the merchandising money

The merchandising money might not be as much as the movie money, but maybe not having to spend money on advertising and production makes up the difference

*shrugs

JayPesoz, it probably wouldn't make any sense for Spidey and the Avengers to join together at this point.

There was a big alien invasion in NY, and ASM2 makes no mention of it. It'd seem weird

Yea.. Marvel was in pretty bad shape back in the day and sold off the movie rights for their more popular properties..

They have an outside chance of getting fantastic four back IF this next movie bombs.. Go on youtube and look up the story on the 94 fantastic four film

They have no chance in hell of getting x-men back or spidey back.. But marvel saw benefit of merchandise sale, so they grabbed that

Seems like some of you guys haven't seen the special "Marvel: Assembling a Universe." It's pretty cool, they talk about how marvel studios journey into making superhero films. How they were bankrupt, the idea of creating avengers, etc.

ASM 1 & 2 could've taken place before Avengers. Plus, it could've also happened while he was on hiatus after Gwen died. Just throwing some suggestions, I'm sure they could make it work and fit the timeline with minimal work.

Stuff always happens in NY. Maybe he wouldn't have to mention the alien invasion because it's just what happens here.

I love the way you guys are thinking :lol honestly New York is the home for all of Marvels heroes. So much stuff happens there from Alien invasions, to symbiote infected humans running rampant to planet eating entities coming down with their heralds that the NY's citizens have become somewhat oblivious. Marvel still covets spiderman especially since he's the center of the Marvel universe, Marvels 75th anniversary cover should've hinted toward that. And as far as FF I'm confident that the movie will suck. And if Marvel isn't backing them for a while with any merchandise or appearances in any of the animated series Fox will budge off of them soon enough. After Fox tells it's apocalypse story, I don't see where else they can go with Xmen as well. Fox will cough up rights soon enough. The xmen can only tell so many stories without other marvel heroes crossing over and Fox can't make that happen. And They don't have the balls to attempt an X-Force film

Not gonna happen. They have movies set up for the next 3 years and are kicking around the idea of having an Xmen/FF crossover. And when I think about it, they have plenty of characters to do it

Fox already said they are going with how the XMen was formed with the original members after Apocalypse.

I mean really, if you say that there are no more stories to tell then you've never read XMen books, hell you probably never seen the saturday morning cartoon because they can pull at least 10-15 stories from that alone. :lol

Especially after they pretty much reset the whole X-Movie-Verse means they can start all over. Do the Phoenix Saga right, have Sinister f' around with Cyclops and Jean, go with Astonishing Xmen once the team is extablished, etc... and sprinkles solo Wolverine movies along with XForce, Deadpool and F4 every few years.

I know this is the GotG thread but what's "known" about AoA so far besides Magic Mike as Gambit?

Spiderman and X-Men will never not be Sony properties, that one is pretty much in the bag.

Fantastic Four, on the other hand

given it's previous failures, and the fact that they have completely wrapped filming yet they didn't show a second of footage at comic con tells you that this upcoming movie might be a disaster. That MIGHT have a chance at going back to marvel.

I think XMen has more story potential than avengers. I mean after the third one, what are they going to do? Civil war? WWH? Stuff with Sentry?

i do t know if is call them failures. They both cost 100mill to make and both made 300million. So while they arent in the upper tiers they're respectable box offices.

Not much since they didn't show or reveal anything at SDCC, Fox pretty much said F' it this year.

He just guaranteed that there will be the Four Horsemen. Kinberg also revealed that it was Juggernaut that was suppose to breakout Magneto instead of QS but Singer thought he was "exploited" enough and people probably still have a sour taste in their mouth with "Juggernaut b*tch!" so they went with QS but they did cast a young Juggernaut so we might expect that in AoA.

I think release is still rumored ot be May of 2016 and another Wolverine film to be out by March of 2017.

Also, Kinberg said...

“We sort of reset the clock on Days Of Future Past. And so a lot could have changed from that point in 1973 forward. Meaning, people could have been born earlier. The whole world changed after those events. So things that were represented in X1, X2 and X3 wouldn’t have happened in quite the same way.”

So that is a way to make the X1 cast could exist in the 80's where the next film(s) will take place and they can have creation of the og comic book team in the film.
