Guardians of the Galaxy (Film) - 8/1/14 - Starring Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Zoe Saldana, Benic

You really don't have to know anything about the characters.

I think 99.9 percent of all moviegoers aren't going to know anything about any of the characters.

GotG is (I suppose were now) a pretty obscure comic book franchise.

....Man that was pretty good.

That Dance Battle :rollin Just seeing Ronan's face when he did that. I need that section in gif form yesterday!

Can't wait for the blu-ray for all the extras

And I half expected Thanos to drop in and crush Ronan's skull at the end for hanging up on him. It was great to see and hear the Mad Titan.

Someone mentioned on here that Thanos made an a appearance for like 5 seconds so I didn't expect anything to go down between him and Ronan.

Drax was also pretty funny in this movie. That laugh he was making in the ship with Quill and Gamora was goofy as hell.

I also couldn't get over the fact that it was Batista playing Drax.

I thought the same thing with Thanos getting on Ronan. I thought Ronan would survive and then retreat to some empty planet and then Thanos just arrives and obliterates him.

I kind of wished Groot dancing wasn't the mid-credit scene, make it Thanos turning Ronan to ashes be the mid-credit or Howard the Duck and let Thanos be the end-credit.

That dance battle was hilarious! Definitely wasn't expecting it.

No hyperbole... one of the best comic book movies I've ever seen. All the elements were there. Action, comedy, cute moments, comic relief, depth and character development, something awesome after the credits.

I went in almost blind. Read many comics in my day but not this one. Packed theater

by far the funniest part imo was not a line but a reaction when drax was all emotional about calling ronan and rocket was laying into him about how stupid he was and how he was sobing.... groots reaction had me rolling on the ground funny stuff

Im pretty sure they bumped the opening weekend expectation to 90 on friday, not that it did 90M in one day.

Yah I just looked it up. 90-95.5M opening weekend. :smokin

It could top Cap 2

Unlikely but it could be 100M Making it the only movie this summer to do that. Transformers only did 97M but WB is claiming they did 100 (lying).

Looks like my prediction of $600M WW is correct. Prolly $700M now

It's actually a 38 million Friday. So that's 49 mil so far. Not bad.

Nvm apparently they counted the 11 m Thursday

So just 38 altogether, which is still good
'Guardians of the Galaxy': Theater Repeatedly Shows Wrong Movie to Fans

UPDATED: A Virginia moviegoer tells THR a Regal Cinemas showed the 2012 film "Rise of the Guardians" instead of the Marvel tentpole.
Well, at least they got the Guardians part right.

Expletives flew at a Guardians of the Galaxy screening Thursday, when a Regal Cinemas in Virginia repeatedly showed the opening segment of 2012's Rise of the Guardians instead of the Marvel Studios tentpole.

Dean Browell, who was sitting in the audience with his 10-year-old daughter, says they sat through 15 minutes of previews, followed by five minutes of the animated movie before an employee popped in to say they were trying to fix the situation.

The audience then withstood the same 15 minutes of previews again … only for Rise of the Guardians to start playing once more. At this point, the theater offered to give people tickets to a later 3D Imax showing, and about half the people at the 2D screening took them up on the offer.

But the other screening was too late for the Browells, so they persevered.

"There was a 10 minute wait, then the lights went down again and the third go of previews started, this time with the new Interstellar one, which gave us hope," Browell tells The Hollywood Reporter.

No luck. Rise started playing a third time — to major expletives from the agitated crowd.

"It was now 9:15 p.m., from an 8 p.m. movie," says Browell. "Those left in the theater stormed out and then joined a line 50-people long trying to get their money back, anything. We were so disappointed."

Don't worry, true believers. This story has a happy ending. The theater refunded their tickets and gave them a poster as well as tickets to a Friday sho

Now that Marvel knows that they can make anything a hit, prepare for tons of obscure comic books to hit the theaters.
