FOOD THREAD VOL. GRUB LIFE

I’m not a turkey guy. Idk if it’s cultural but we will usually do porchetta, pernil, or roast

Dark meat turkey is the bomb.com... I love Thanksgiving sides & all that... A relative makes her special banana cream pudding that's the best I've ever had.

I found this vid to be helpful last Thanksgiving when I did a turkey the week before when we did a Friendsgiving with the neighbors the weekend before.

I highly recommend getting a good meat thermometer. Also if you do a frozen turkey, read the label & make sure you leave enough time to completely thaw the turkey. I like doing fresh turkeys.

Also if you choose to do a bag for your turkey, I’ve found opening the bag for the last hour or so is optimum to get the skin done well but be sure to baste well at that point...

Also referred to this vid.

I shared this several pages back. I learned so much from this vid on how to properly carve rotisserie chickens & turkey... After carving 2-3 chickens, I knew what I was doing so by the time it came to carving a 25 lbs turkey, it was very easy to do.

Anxious to try this stuffing recipe..

Black dressing and non black dressing is night and day. Yikes that joint look dry.

Describe Banana Cream Pudding.

You mean Banana pudding? With wafers?
She makes her's a lil different than this. She doesn't use the vanilla wafers either. I think it's a short bread cookie of some sort that looks like a stamp or seal or something like that. It has an image on the cookie. It's the best I've ever had & will have. She's made it in a big glass cylinder like vat where you can see all the delicious layers & also in XL sized pyrex rectangular dishes. Everyone looks forward to it except the people that don't like bananas.

Yea, Banana Pudding, she just uses CHessmen Cookies from pepperidge Farms

I want to try that

She calls it banana cream pudding so that’s what I call it. :emoji_shrug:

Good call on the chessmen cookies. That’s exactly what it is.

Now that I think about it more, I wanna say it also has bits of vanilla wafers within the pudding among bits of other things.

In any event, it’s one of the best deserts I ever had. I look forward to it at Thanksgiving & then again on Christmas.

Sometimes she’ll make it for me & 2 other in laws if we are going to be at another family get together.

She actually makes more than she needs to bcs she knows we’ll take it home...

Good thing I don’t really **** with burgers, unless it’s homemade.

I had burger fi down in ft lauderdale and i really liked it, wish we had them up here in pa.

Please, people (Americans) want cheap $1 dollar burgers. If McDonald's and other companies start making non antibiotic burger, they will be more expensive and people will start to complain on the prices.

I already know McDonalds and other sell bull crap burgers and i rarely eat it. Only out of sheer desperation, but rather get a chicken sandwich.

I think that's a misconception. Yeah most dont mind the cheap stiff but there are plenty who would pay for quality. There's a market for both.

Speaking of cheap.
