FOOD THREAD VOL. GRUB LIFE

We ordered a lil extra crabs & picked them today to make some Maryland crab soup. She made it a lil spicey for her but just right for me.

Prep for a chili with ground sirloin and Chuck steak. In the bow with the bowl we're chilis being steeped.

Beautiful color on the meat. Grass finished Chuck. Im converting to grass finished beef

Cooked for 3 hours. Endresult was ok. It needs work. The recipe called for brown sugar. I'd take that out next time as the two tablespoons was noticable and I didn't like the sweetness it added. I for some reason can't find a chili recipe similar to a chili you would get on chili cheese fries at a restaurant or regular spot. Chili was overall okay tho.

Looks good, but I have to ask....where the beans at?

Went out to Oakland/Berkeley for Treasure Island Music Fest yesterday and got some eats beforehand.

Had to wait damn near an hour in line. Almost worth it
The soba master there rolls the noodles fresh every day. I was able to get the last 100% buckwheat soba there while my friend got the 80%. Could definitely tell the difference. Nice soft texture.

First time going to cheeseboard. This was mushroom, baby spinach, parsley, caramelized onions, and garlic olive oil. Basically cheesy garlic bread, but the crust was decent and they had some special cilantro pesto/salsa dip that was good.

Your soba post reminds me of the ep where Bourdain went snowboarding in Japan & had soba noodles...

Anybody have Haitian food before? What's a good dish to get?
Used to have a close friend from Haiti before they moved away whose grandma used to make Sancocho for us all the time. Tried making it myself but just can’t do it remotely close to what she did for obvious reasons which is I don’t have close to her Jedi midiclorian levels.

My son loves the spiciness of the crab soup we made. Made a pack of ramen & then put it in the crab soup for him... He loved it... Unfortunately, we only had 1 pack of ramen left so I went without...

Don’t think I ever saw him snowboarding in Japan. Will have to seek that out. Do you remember if it was from No Reservations or Parts Unknown?

LOVED the last episode he did in Japan where he was just living it up with Masa. Going out on random hillsides and doing makeshift bbqs with wagyu. Man.

The clip used to be available on YouTube... I was going to post it but it’s no longer available. It’s from his No Reservations show. Didn’t realize that had been 7 yrs ago. The place he went to was called Raku-ichi. Maybe it was skiing...
