As much as I love sushi it's such an acquired taste I can't knock anyone, just glad he's trying it. Salmon/Tuna/yellowtail are a good entry combo, eel and toro(pricy) are delicious too. I prefer nigiri or sashimi to the rolls though unless it's a fire specialty one.

Get some halibut fin. It’s a good gateway to regular sushi. The key is using wasabi in the soy sauce. And I get thin slices jalapeños and put it on top.
