FOOD THREAD VOL. GRUB LIFE

Guadalajara taco truck used to be my favorite but now La Perla in West Oakland is the taco truck that is my #1 right now.

Guadalajara taco truck is :pimp: so good I’m down to go there drunk after midnight in the streets of Oakland to cop tacos

Bet. i'm hitting up Guad tomorrow then. I have some time around the east bay. Will report back

Taco Tuesday?

Al pastor with pineapple slices

Leo's was solid. A little over hyped but solid all around for what it is.

They have absolutely nothing on those TJ style taco spots that are in the parking lots of tire shops in the hood in LA.

Tortillas handmade on site are undervalued.

Best horchata hands down

Was World Wide Tacos worth the ridiculous wait time? How was the experience there? Would you recommend?

I’ve been debating making a trip there for years but the wait time completely turned me off to even attempting to go over there.

For those not familiar, World Wide Tacos is known for making people wait 4+ hours for a simple order, but they make everything fresh and have an extensive menu.

For example let’s say you order the lamb tacos or something. They might go buy the lamb from the market once you order it, marinate it, whatever other prep is involved and then hours later you get your tacos.

It sounds ridiculous but this place has been in business for YEARS and people love it.

I have a pretty hard rule about not eating restaurant Gumbo but made a one time exception here. Same rule applies to Pozole and certain other dishes that I feel are best when someone’s family member has made it at home.

Hard to ruin gumbo. Unless that it has tomatoes in it or some weird ****

Waited at a bar called El Sotano, a mezcal focused with Mexican cuisine before our dinner. Just had their bar snacks

for those who dont know chapulines are grasshoppers, I didnt know myself when we order it. First time trying they wasnt too bad. Crispy light kinda bitter since it was fried with garlic

Sounds trash and a waste of time

Never had an issue with Roscoe's. Probably went 4 times, very good each time. Wings fried hard, Waffle extra-crispy. Last time I went, The Obama was so good that I ordered a second order on the spot.

Roscoes Chicken is average .Definitely not a top 5 soul food spot out here . Prolly not top 10
