Do you agree with me when I say that there will come a time that we'll reach the breaking point? In the coming years?

That's not what I was getting at. The public can be complacent only for so long with things going the way they are.
it is how civilizations and empires fall....

from my understanding this has yet to be approved, so why the title which makes it sound like this is already set in stone?

Because that's what he does lol.

I love how we debate which candidate would be "less bad" instead of who would've been great. Just shows how uninspired we are by our govt, evenwhen someone like Obama comes along. Same stuff just packaged differently. As for this, not a real fan, not the worst thing ever proposed but not my style

I don't see what the issue is?
create a new consumer protection agency to guard against credit and other abuses that played a big role in the current crisis.
Greatly needed. Thank you.
The plan would do away with the Office of Thrift Supervision, replacing it with a system aimed at closing gaps in coverage and keeping institutions from shopping for the most lenient bank regulator. The consumer agency would place new restrictions on lenders and mortgage brokers, requiring them to offer simple loans to consumers.
Excellent idea.

The financial sector and lawmakers from both parties concede the need for significant changes in the rules that govern the intricate and interconnected world of banking and investment.
Pretty damn obvious there.

So what is the issue... oh yah the same bitter salty NTers with the same tired posts

"the sky is falling the sky is falling"

I like the first two things posted, and I agree with the third but don't know if this is how I want it done. I need to read more info before figuring outthe way I would prefer

And sun if that was towards me, my bad I just have had a hell of a day at work and went into negative mode on NT, haha

These are just broad ideas coming from the Obama administration. Every little detail was provided. Overall it's a plan to overhaul the financial systembecause our nation cannot afford another economy meltdown to happen again.

I just find it hilarious at OP's title...

@ NOW.

Federal Reserve now is control of ENTIRE financial system.
OP has some reading comprehension issues considering the summary of the article itself states....
laugh.gif

The plan would give new powers to the Federal Reserve to oversee the entire financial system and would also create a new consumer protection agency to guard against the types of abuses that played a big role in the current crisis.

Fox News propaganda strikes yet again.

man you bolded the wrong part lol ... should have bolded the part where it says "new powers to the Federal Reserve to oversee the entire financial systemand would also create a new consumer protection agency to guard against the types of abuses that played a big role in the current crisis" ...

so basically a private company is going to be in control of americas money and its gonna be regulated by anoteh rprivate agency that its in bed with ... ...... ...

Thats also why they're so quick to co-sign something. If something sounds like a good look they'l run with it.

Your right though !%+$ is highly unlikely....the fallout is far too ugly a prospect for most people to consider.

You better be real careful coming in here talking about people are just ignorant when you don't have the faintest idea about what you aretalking about... Obama DID NOT give gays more rights:

NOR did he get rid of DADT as he said he would, even though 4/5ths of the country agree that it should be banned:

None of then are private, they are just another bureaucracy. The Federal Reserve? It caused The Great Depression, it created this mess, and now its a"regulator". Great.

@ your analogy.

So according to you.. Screw regulations. Screw accountability. Screw protecting the consumers. Let's just continue the way things are going because OHHHNOOOO "a private company is going to be in control and is going to be regulated by another private agency" And they have all these powerful POWERS!OH NOOOOO!

This is the beginning of Nazism right? No Socialism. No Communism. NO Obamanism.

How is it "misleading" it says it RIGHT THERE.

This may actually be the most moronic statement in NT history. If everyone stopped borrowing money, there would be no economy, genius. How is the averageperson going to ever own a home without a mortgage? How many people do you know with $200,000 + sitting in there bank account to pay cash for a house? So,under your brilliant analysis, over 90% of Americans would never own a home.

How many people do you know that can afford a car without financing? You have 10,20,30,40 thousand plus sitting around in your bank account to go drop on acar? Neither do I, neither do the rest of us average people.

How many people do you know that went to college with out some form of a student loan?

Our economy DEPENDS on people being able to borrow and lend money. If we stop using credit, the economy would be at a complete standstill, genius.
