FAT Shaming

That isn't what the issue with the commercial is.

Look at the messaging of the commercial please.

Critically and I am sure you can understand why it is harmful.

This isn't about HATING fat people.

Picture this.

Imagine the commercial used an alcoholic instead of big girl.

Imagine the "Shoulds" were drinking related.

Would you see how the messaging was harmful?

They've had pro drinking and smoking commercials.

No they're not right but again, I dont hate smokers or alcoholics.

I'm asking why people hate fat people?

Thanks for admitting you understand the harmful nature of the commercial.

That is ALL anyone is saying in regards to that commercial.

Not sure why you are tying to throw this "Hate Fat People" angle.

Actually, I believe cigarette commercials and ads have been banned from television and billboards for decades due to its health hazards and influence on young people. That's why to tobacco companies had to resort to paying t.v shows and movies to sneak in smoking scenes.

Not encouraging = shaming?

I think there's a difference but I'm curious to hear other takes on this.

Weight loss is simple. All you gotta do is slightly alter your eating habits and you're good to go.

About to eat my vegan, gluten free, soy free, raw, non gmo ...

Call me discriminatory, but this commercial makes my blood boil and makes me want to leave hateful ignorant comments on YouTube

Reminds me of an aurgument my wife and had. We buy Ice Cream, she buys pint of chocolate mint and get I half of gallon of buttered pecan because I don't like chocolate mint and she doesn't like buttered pecan. WE sit down and eat our ice cream and she finishes her pint in one sitting. I barely put a dent in my buttered pecan. The next night, i find her curled up on the couch eating my buttered pecan. I'm like WTF, just yesterday she was talking how discussing it is and now she's trying to polish off my buttered pecan. I was pissed. I found it gluttonous and contradictory. It was clear she had no self control and would eating anything in sight. We talked it out and I have lost 10 lbs and she has lost 6 lbs.

Just watched the vid. The dermatologist is foul for bringing up her weight. It wasn't her place to bring it up to her. :frown:
