F1 Official Thread - Grand Prix of Britain

• Points for the last race

Double drivers’ and constructors’ points will be awarded at the final race of the Formula One season in order to maximise focus on the Championship until the end of the campaign.

These changes are immediately applicable, given the mandate assigned to the FIA President at the last World Motor Sport Council meeting, held on 4 December in Paris.

The points thing has a LOT of people going WTF.

You mean to tell me Abu Dhabi is worth more than Spa or Monaco or Monza?

Yeah :| Getting a point for sitting on pole would be more reasonable.

I agree with Seb (at least with this one :lol ). This just doesn't favor teams who are consistent. It would definitely have the potential to wreck the standings by the end of the season. :x

Imagine if this were the case years ago: Lewis without a WDC (Felipe would've won)... Schumi with only 6 titles (Kimi and Fernando with 2, though). Seb with only 3... I can take that. :lol

Insane how someone can spend the bulk of their live whipping around a ring at 200km an hour, but then sustain an injury skiing that puts their life at risk.

Just reminds me that you never know what tomorrow brings...

I hope he recovers...

Man, hope he recovers fully. :\ Haven't been able to post since our neighbour's internet has been dodgy over the past few days. Been in Japan for a holiday. Great country.

Picked these up in Akihabara :smokin

And this (like Mr. McNish)

There was a 1/12 scale MP4/6 that was tempting to purchase, but that might be difficult to bring past Customs :lol Sweet kit, though. :smokin

^ Nice... I expect to see detailed pics of your MP4/4.

The engine-bay of the Lego kit looks really nice too.

Was the 1/12 MP4/6 a Tamiya too?

^ Yes. And that one (Tamiya MP4/6) has more detailed parts, but it's more than twice as expensive as this one. The other ones that were of 1/12 scale were the Lotus 72 and Porsche Carrera GT.

The Lego had a movable engine cowl and "DRS". I've read that you could make that one motorised and make it like a slow RC car, so that's pretty cool.

There were a lot to choose from: The La Ferrari, Enzo, Aventador, SLR, GT-R, Lotus 78... oh, and Mika and David's MP4/13.

Found that most of the Tamiya models there are made in the Philippines as well. Strange I don't see those back home.

There was another brand (Fujimi) that had F1 models in specific race livery, but I wasn't sure if the fit were as good... so, I passed on Kimi's Brazil F2007. Oh well.

Saw an AutoArt X2010 as well, but it was in the orange livery. Not cheap. Hotwheels had Fernando's 2013 Malaysian GP winning F138. That sucked. :lol

Just watched "Rush" for the first time onboard a flight en route to HK... just passing through before heading home. Great movie. Ron Howard did a good job. Good acting as well. Man, "the elderly fan" was quite an a**hole back in the day. :lol But boy, was he good. :smokin I like the mutual respect thing between them.

How long will it take for you to build the Tamiya?

Quite a while... was thinking I'd get the Lego out of the way first, starting tomorrow. Hopefully that one would be done within the day. They did say it'll only take a few hours once you've got all the parts sorted. :p

But I'll do the McLaren MP4/4 next, most probably. Might need some paint for it, though... I'd have to check first. For the F2001, I know I have a bottle of Vallejo Model Air in Ferrari Red lying around. I might have to go to the art store to get some clear coat for glossing them both over once I'm done.

I won't go nuts over it like this guy, though: http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/...-mclaren-mp44-senna-and-full-marlboro-livery/

I always envied those who had the skillz to build models...

What scale is the 4/4?  1:20?  I have a Minichamps 1:12 McLaren F1 and it's HUGE!

What scale is the Lego?
