F1 Official Thread - Grand Prix of Britain

Was surpised to hear it's only the 2nd pole for Max this season. Had to think back about the other races.

The Red Bull just works everywhere and is on the pace from the start. Long run pace looked good too so I think he has this in the bag.

Is it meant to rain tomorrow? That might spice things up.

Good laps from Lewis even though it's annoying with them being lost on setup every weekend.
Also glad he called out the Sky bunch who's been talking nonesense about chassis all weekend.

😂 Whatever. Ain't buying any of that. Merc always finds a way come raceday.

Same, I don’t think Mercedes is that much slower than RBR. They’re definitely playing up the “underdog” narrative, which is hilarious coming from the team that’s won the last 7 championships.

Max is just on another level this season it seems.

I don't think they are. I think the tapered floor really hurt them.
They had a lot of downforce generated from the floor which is also why they had a long wheelbase for more floor for more downforce.

They're having issues they solved before in their earlier cars like tyre warm up, being hard to set up or a Diva like Toto put it and speed in low speed corners. These were issues they had in the 2017 and 2018 cars.

On race pace they might be able to match the Red Bulls tomorrow but Red Bull have been bringing more updates and look to be on top of the tires so I don't even think we might see what happened in Spain again. I don't even know the last time Merc bought an upgrade with their focus on 2022.

Max was killing it in sector 3 whilst having a skinnier rear wing than the Mercs, so downforce and top speed aplenty. The Red Bull is just fast and plug and play on every track with virtually no weakness.

Still all to play for but it looks like it's slipping from Mercedes hands with every race.
