That's what a lot of journalists who have covered this man for decades are saying as well. Not a good look if the Warden is escorting you out the front door with a chopper waiting there. The tunnel was just to save face and make it appear the escape was more elaborate than it really was.

I mean cmon. A half built house is conveniently near this max prison and no one ever thought this would be an easy escape route and a perfect place to build a tunnel?
