Dressing Better Vol 2.0

1000

What do you guys think of these shoes, nothing too expensive. But something i may get.

It's a little hard to see but its got a white sole there. Also comes in this colour that i like.
400
Nice choice for the spring/summer.

My man, GREAT point with that second bit. I've never even really thought about that
This is a discussion I had with my boss since she is into fashion too. I've heard of the brands she wears, ie Jil Sander, MMM, etc. But some of the stuff I wear, she's never heard of, ie Carmina, Tricker's, etc. It shows that marketing is king. Prime example: True Religion had a pretty huge profit gain in the last quarter, higher than the forecast number, while quality denim that are sold at very respectable prices are barely getting by.

it's far more interesting than menswear to me. So I tend to follow that more than menswear designers. Been putting my little sister on game now she trying to be a "fashionista"

Man, all females who like to dress up are 'fashionistas' or trying to work in fashion in some aspect :lol A lot switch their minds when they realize the pay is low and the hours are long.

There are some looks that I really like, but will probably seem incoherent to the ladies with keen eyes :lol

So many girls that that in my university :{

Although I must admit, there are a lot of girls with SICK styles and some pretty cool pieces. There's one girl I see often who could be a damn model if she wanted to.

Story time:

At the beginning of the semester, we were doing introductions in my marketing class. A girl described herself as a "style master."

I've yet to see her wear anything other than uggs, leggings, and oversized Victoria's Secret sweatshirts :lol

Anyone own any of them 15 dollar polos they sell at Target? I wanted to rack up on them for spring since I dont want to put to much money into clothes since it may not fit by winter.

I bought one of the Merona ones last summer. They fit pretty slim and close to the body, but the collar is not very substantial and tends to curl in a weird way. Hard to explain, but I won't be buying another one anytime soon unless they have changed recently.

Timberland Earthkeeper 2.0. Most comfortable boots I've ever tried on/owned; I'd rock them all year long if they didn't look so chunky on my slim frame.

I have this pair:

I usually wear 10 in sneakers and 9-9.5 dress shoes...got these in a 9.5 and they fit perfectly

Are you looking for actual snow boots? Or just some rugged boots to walk around in?

Sorel and LL Bean are good for snow in terms of insulation. I would also look into Wolverine and Red Wing. Just be sure to treat the leather if you're going to be sloshing around in them.

Here's some that would best fit your needs.

Clarks Desert Boots (Go down .5, 1 full size if your feet aren't too wide)

Timberland Rugged Moc, or any Timberland (Go down .5)

Sebago boots (True to size, can go .5 down)

LL Bean boots

And NT Dressing Better's favorite... Redwings. (Sizing depends on model, some are TTS others run .5 large)

Love a lot of the boots on here, take a look

Great pair of boots, I have one of the first OG tan/brown colorways from a few years ago. Basically the one you posted but slightly darker.

Haven't worn them in a year or two though, boot talk always makes me want to find them in my attic and bring them out :rolleyes

I have some Mossimo ones I bought two summers ago that have a really flimsy collar as well, it doesn't really bother me much though...they actually fit pretty trim for a Target brand and the material was pretty breathable too. I think I bought like 4 or 5 since they were so cheap. I've checked their recent polos the last yr and I think they discontinued the ones I'm talking about but mine are still holding up well, I don't wear em much anymore though

I like how my Clarks look but I really dislike the fit in the heel area...

You can't be serious about the Clarks bro, those are a death trap in the winter :x

I wear my Desert Boots A LOT in the winter. If you go to a half decent school, the roads, sidewalks, and pretty much anywhere else you walk on campus will be shoveled or plowed, and it's not like it's going to rain or snow everyday. However if you're going to worry about things like that Clarks Bushacres are always a great alternative.

Either way, they are a must and there are a plethora of other options that I mentioned.

Random thought...whatever happened to eiddyfouw or jordanscrub. Haven't seen them post in here for a minute..

Long time lurker, first time poster.

1.) I'm a very skinny guy (6'0, 140 lbs) and I'm wondering if anyone could point me to the right direction to find chinos that fit my body type. Price range under $70. I tried the Dockers Alpha chinos but I didn't like the khaki color.

2.) I want to know what's NT's take on graphic tees? I saw two of them that I liked but every time I read a fashion blog it always says they're a huge NO NO.

i'm 99% positive that jordanscrub took our advice and is posting under a different SN. i won't be the one to blow up his spot though

I knew I wasn't trippin :lol Pretty sure I know the new sn. Eiddy posts still just not in here.

@Beta virgin try gap slim lived in khaki's, or h&m chinos

I wore my beeswax DB's for the first time a couple of days ago and I got pretty bad blisters around the heel :{

The heel is just extremely stiff...I've had my beeswax pair for 3 years and it's still pretty uncomfortable

+1 of what TypeR said. You guys just need thicker socks or you didn't size them right.

I have a pair of Beeswax DBs that I rarely wear because they're too small and killed my feet :( (Been thinking about raffling them off in the thread, wink wink)

Beta, definitely try GAP slim "lived in" khakis as 25th hour said

Also, need help from the bloggers of the group. I want to start my own blog sometime soon, what's the best website/platform to work off of? I'm a computer science minor so I know my way around the interwebz, I don't need it to be too simple. I'm not sure how to even get started. :rolleyes

Jordanscrub is probably busy promoting his comeback album, performing at the Grammys and all that. Took a lot of advice in this thread, but doesn't agree with the black suit thing.

Watching the red carpet of the Oscars. Wish some of the men would branch out and wear something other than a black tuxedo.

Anyone watching the Grammys right now? Anxiously awaiting to see what my man idol/crush Ryan Gosling is wearing :lol ...Though I'm not even sure if he's going

Random thought... has anyone in here thought about possibly making a hairstyle thread? I feel like it could have a lot of substance to it... but maybe it's just me. My hair dresser somehow managed to mess up my part when I went for my first cut in months yesterday. :rolleyes
