Dressing Better Vol 2.0

Saw a pretty nice Christian Dior dress shirt at a thrift store. It was a super tiny store, that you'd miss from a distance. :lol They had no fitting room so I couldn't try it on, but they had a tag with the measurements on it. (Covering the actual size tag of the shirt :| )

Length: 28 1/2" (From back collar to bottom)
Chest: 20"
Sleeve Length: 23 1/2"

What size is this comparable to? Small, medium, large, etc.?

Been looking at sizing charts online but I can't call it.

Brands usually use the chest measurement to determine the S, M, L, XL, etc. sizing. Depending on the brand and vanity sizing, there may be very large differences.

Here's J. Crew's size chart for reference for men's tops.

REGULAR SIZES
SIZE CHEST NECK WAIST ARM LENGTH
XS 32 - 34 13 - 13.5 26 - 28 31 - 32
S 35 - 37 14 - 14.5 29 - 31 32 - 33
M 38 - 40 15 - 15.5 32 - 34 33 - 34
L 41 - 43 16 - 16.5 35 - 37 34 - 35
XL 44 - 46 17 - 17.5 38 - 40 35 - 36
XXL 47 - 49 18 - 18.5 41 - 43 36 - 36.5

Here, a J. Crew medium top is 38-40 inches. Keep in mind that clothes found in secondhand stores may be 5, 10, or however many years old. Styles were different then. A medium J. Crew shirt today is much slimmer than a medium J. Crew shirt from 10 years ago.

There will be a lack of WDIWT posts for the rest of the week from me, we're having Senior Week this week and well they are no where in the dressing better category lol. Monday was decades day so oversize graphic t and jeans was the outfit, yesterday was career day so that one was the one already posted, today is Celebrity Look-A-Like and well I'm wearing a Jets T-shirt and rolling around a chair getting my Tim Tebow on, tomorrow is Valentines Day so gotta wear pink so will get in some type of WDIWT post and Friday is college day aka college t-shirt or sweatshirt day and jeans.

Is anyone interested in an Eisenhower Wool Jacket in Navy Melton by Epaulet (http://epauletnewyork.com/products/eisenhower-navy-melton-wool-jacket)?

It's a size small. I bought it off an SF member, but it's just too short for me.
:lol
I remember PMing the original guy who put it for sale but someone beat me to it. Then the guy that bought it put it for sale and someone else bought it and now it looks like it's yours after ~5 owners

I seriously think I'm the 5 owner - no joke!

What's crazy is that this jacket looks almost brand new, even though it's passed so many hands.

Need new suggestions for plain tees.

Right now, Zara's pretty much what I wear.

Point me in new directions, brehs..

Care to provide some insight or reasoning to that statement? Or just more "ehhhhh..."?

I feel like the Indochino experience is solely based on the person and how accurate you get your measurements.
I received my tux from them not too long ago and out the box it was decent fit, but still off in certain areas. Instead of sending it back I just took it to a tailor and now it's a lot better.

I might end up using them again but it wont be any time soon. Suitsupply seems to be a better option than the online MTM stores like Indochino. It's pricier too though, once you factor in the costs of alterations and the suits themselves cost a bit more than Indochino.

Uniqlo are my favorites so far. I tried Everlane but they didn't hold up too well in the wash, the collars did that bacon neck thing.

Also Target has a brand called Mossimo, I've been buying those for a few years now and the ones I bought three years ago look exactly like the ones I bought last summer. Very nice for what you pay for them, which is like 7 or 8 bucks I think

I would hope you get a better fit by going to the traveling tailor than just punching in your measurements online

I'm trying to stockpile now for late spring/summer...

so ready for short sleeved shirts and chinos.

I've seen people post that they've actually gone to one of those and were measured by them and it still came out wonky.

Indochino just seem very hit or miss to me. Because for every poor fitting suit, I've seen some really nice fitting ones done on the first try

ehh @ indochino suits

Yea the self measuring can be problematic in regards to Indochino. The two times I've ordered I've had to get something remade each time but once that was done I was happy with it. Since SuitSupply is in the city I do want to try them one of these days, as I don't really want to go bespoke every single time, that gets expensive real quick. I've seen some of the suitsupply stuff online and it looks really good.

has anyone ever gone to the indochino tailor or to a suitsupply store?

there is one in DC that im thinking of going to to buy a suit for an upcoming wedding. I want to see how some of the fabrics they use look in person, along with some of the lapels they have on their suits. i really want this

I have been to the Indochino Traveling Tailor event when they came to New York City. It's definitely something to check out. First of all it's free. The workers do not pressure you into making your purchase right there. They could just set you up with your measurements and show you what they have to offer. They literally have every product on their site at the event. (Atleast during my experience).

The biggest tip I could give you is not to be shy. LET them know how you want things to fit. Let them know you're looking for a more modern tailored fit.

For example, I let them know how I wanted the pants to be tapered, the cuffs length and etc. Do not be shy to double check their measurements because they do leave unecessary room sometimes. I would be glad to answer any other questions you guys might have. Either PM or post in the thread. 8)

Toggle Cardigan: $20 (used the %20 percent off in an email newsletter, and the%15 student disc.)

Banana Republic Slim Fit Dress Shirt $20 (used one of their many coupon codes sent through email)

Tommy Hilfiger tie $10 (on sale at Macy's)

Express Photographer pants $20 (used one of their coupon's they send in the mail)

Worn to my internship at a legal office (certified legal intern). I only waer suits on days I have to go to court with my mentor. Please excuse the bulge near the pockets; I tend to put my cellphone wallet, keys, etc. in them when I shouldn't. And I know the bottom of the pants could be tapered to fit better, but I can't justify tailoring pants I spent $20 on lol.

I'd go with the second one, looks much better IMO. More versatile as well.

I dunno if it's your body (no romo) or the fit of your clothes or the angle of the pics but your hip to waist ratio looks like it rivals Jessica rabbit. You should try slimmer pants that are more flattering. You may also want to go up at least half an inch if not a full inch on your collar. Looks like it makes breathing difficult

Yeah, I wear by SuitSupply and definitely think it's worth checking out, especially if you're comparing it to Indochino. I always go to the store when I purchase from them and as I have stated, you may see some things that didn't make it to the website or sold out quickly.
