Dressing Better Vol 2.0

You can never go wrong with a suit though. Point blank. They may laugh at you but that's exponentially better than them thinking you're unprepared.

We discuss this all the time about candidates for potential positions. It doesn't matter if you wear square toe shoes but don't show up in Nike t shirt and Lebrons. I actually had a guy showed up like this for a tech position.

I posted this story tons of times and will again. I wore a suit to my interview for an internship at nasa back in 2008. They told me to take off the jacket because I was making them look bad.

Rolled up with the sleeves rolled up. Shouts to my man 10 pc nuggets.

Business casual:

-When buying a Polo "classic fit" shirt be sure to tailor them. They are super wide and they look ridic tucked in.
You should not be wearing business casual to interviews
DO NOT WEAR A SUIT TO AN IT JOB INTERVIEW. I made the mistake of doing this on my first interview out of school. LOL
Did you not get the job because of how you were dressed?  Srs.

Also...Polo shirt?  Um, why not buy custom fit and/or the proper size?  It's one thing if they're shirts you already own which I agree with, I had some tailored.

Don't worry, you'll get better at this.

I'm just gonna say, Allen Edmonds has THE most delightful customer service ladies working there. I just had a really pleasant phone call with someone I want to be one of my aunties now

A lot of menswear shops are like that. I chat with the owners of Shoemart from time to time because he likes talking to Alden enthusiasts.

Who makes a nice Navy Gingham shirt? And should I go spread collar with a khaki suit or no? Plan on wearing a navy skinny tie.

The perfect sleeve roll takes MINUTES. I rolled my sleeves today at work took me ten minutes at least, the left one just wouldnt get the way I wanted it to.

Every pair is back ordered wow. Wonder what kind of magic powers you gain when wearing these sweatpants

for real, we need a tutorial for the best sleeve rolling method

Think I'll be stepping into this thread a bit, I could use a little work on my attire

I read an article AND watched a video of it on Art of Manliness last week that was ZERO help.

button up the top sleeve button to ensure a snug roll, the fold up evenly.

Mins to roll up your sleeves? Ain't nobody got time for that. I never understood the "perfect" way to roll. That's like saying perfect wrinkles on clothes. If you want to not be so casual then don't roll.

You can hoop like Uncle Drew.

Spread for a more formal look. Button down collar for a more casual. Those are the two I would consider.

Wow, I didn't realiize there were guides and terminology assigned to sleeve rolling.

I guess I do the master roll with sport shirts more often and the simple roll more for function when it's hot or I need roll my sleeves when I'm more dressed up.

With spring here I am looking at wearing long sleeve collar shirts with some of my shorts. Figured I'd change it up from my normal t-shirt and shorts.

Question: Can I wear a regular dress shirt or is that material too heavy?

I don't think it's a matter of the material as much as it is the length of the shirt. Although if you're tucking it in then you should be fine. If not, you want to find "sport shirts" that are cut so the bottom hits right around your belt.

In warmer weather I would try to look for shirts made of linen or poplin that's really light and can breathe well. Not sure where you're located but the summers here in DC can get pretty hot.

You're going to have to tuck in the shirt though. Otherwise if you plan on not tucking, stick with sport shorts.

Material shouldn't matter since most shirts are just cotton unless you have flannel dress shirt. Even Oxford cloth that is thicker would be wearable in the summer.

Linen and seersucker are also dope.
