I have been in the market for a heavy duty snow boot. I thought I could hold off until around Xmas but with the recent snow storms my feet nearly froze in my Timbs! So I pulled the trigger on these LLBeans. It was either the LLBean

or these Caribou Sorel joints.

700

both are around $170 retail.
Supposedly they are both -50 F approved.

Im still unsure if i made the right choice..NT bros, guide me to the straight path

I can't speak on the LL Bean's but I'd ordered the Sorel Caribou a few years ago. Crazy warm and good quality but they're extremely heavy. I went ahead and got the 1964 Pac T instead and I love them. The sole isn't as thick and they aren't nearly heavy, never had any issues with warmth in NY. I think I only paid like $80 on Amazon.
Anyone been to Banana Republic in the last few months that might've seen this jacket in store?

700

Can you speak on quality or fit if you tried it on? I have no desire to go there but I've got like $200 of (in-store only) credit from returning gifts and I never see anything I like there but this looks decent. If I could get 30-40% off it would end up costing me next to nothing but I'm not gonna get it just because...though I do kinda wanna get rid of these credits or I know I'll lose them.

Get 20 pairs of socks.

You can never, eeeeeevvvvvvveeeeerrrrrrr have enough socks.
Ha. I already have way too many pairs. Probably 40 pairs of dress, 10-15 thicker winter, 10-15 loafer, 25-30 athletic. :wow:

Unless I pass by BR, I'm not worrying about heading there for that jacket to check it out. I'll put the gift certificates in my desk and wait til I see something I like. I wish they did gift cards with a code that could be used online like most places but they said for gifts or any return w/o a receipt that's their policy.

Are you talking about rugged/combat boots? Casual boots? Balmoral boots?

I want to tweak my style and could use some ideas. Any sites or specific pages in this thread I should check out to develop a new look?
Without a clear definition of what you are going for, ie menswear or streetwear, I can only advise various Tumblr blogs.

If you want the more traditional menswear route, check out this WAYWT: http://www.styleforum.net/t/234255/hof-what-are-you-wearing-right-now-part-iii

If you want more streetwear influence, check this thread out. Note that streetwear goes beyond what NTers think of an obscure t shirt, some sagging skinny Levi's, and limited kicks. http://www.styleforum.net/t/164384/the-waywt-discussion-thread

must put my amex down
It's $200, bro. You make that in an hour after tax :pimp:

I actually bought the Premium T ones from J. Crew as it was $115 and 30% off last week. Tried them on, liked them, and they were crazy warm (up to -40 it said) with the liner insulate. I bought them for my trip to NYC/Canada for New Years but will be returning them since I live in Houston and wouldn't wear them much besides that week. Got the Lundargrand Lace Boots in Fatigue since it's more casual and I heard it was pretty warm (and waterproof) so it'd be better for me.

Thanks dude. I guess I'd want some sort of balance between the two. Idk. Just tired of always wearing plain t's and jeans.

Rugged/combat / Casual boot
For casual boots, something from AE may fit the bill, paging Carlin.

For rugged joints, check out Red Wings. I have some Wolverine 1k

I bought these 1k's last year at retail and love them, especially with a double rider jacket or flannel shirts: http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/wolverine-montgomery-lace-up-boot/3664993?origin=keywordsearch

Caution that they scratch really easily, so you can't keep them crispy like you would a pair of sneakers or what have you. Recently wore them on Saturday:

I also like these Red Wings:

Congrats on the weight loss. I've never heard anyone under 65 call them "blue jeans"

Did you neck size change? If you have shirts that otherwise fit and you like and/or weren't cheap, it might be a better option to get some tailored.

 blue jeans.. yea I wanted to be specific cus black jeans are quite popular this winter but yea kinda sounds like old man speak.

As fir the shirts ive had some slight alterations to the slim fit ones and I found some of my older shirts 16.5 collar that fit fine but my classic fit 17.5s are done time for a fresh look.

Ive reached my 'goal' in terms of the weight I was 215 down to 187 now. I was surprised how 'overweight' I was my bmi was over 27 at 6'2 with 24% body fat back in june. Im now around bmi 22 with 16% body fat (approx). I was always keeping in shape but my idea of 'fit' was actually an unhealthy lifestyle pumping weights and going hard on court at the weekends eating whatever whenever was catching up to me so I needed to change everything.

On a related note im after a pair of cord trousers, I like the thick cord not the narrow levis/timberland style something heavy and decent that wont go shiny after a few weeks wear. Chinos dont really work for me in the winter I find cords warmer and a bit diferent to the casual jeans look.
