They make a great pair of jeans I just don’t like the pink inseam stitch on some pairs
Luckily I snatched mine from blue owl too and they were the collab pair that is blacked out with black stitching / black going to battle stripes
not my heaviest pair of denim but idk they are the most stiff rigid pair in my current rotation of like 8 pairs and they are all sized relatively similar waste wise but these are TIGHT so beware of blue owls sizing chart cuz that would be the only Anomaly

Is the pink stitching that noticeable in person? One thing I’m not crazy about on most momos are the white stripes on the pocket, kind of too loud for my taste... I’d rather have something a little less. And as far as sizing, is there another site that might be more accurate? I don’t want to regret a purchase because measurements were a little off.

About it being noticeable that’s a personal thing I guess but for me there’s just too many options to settle on something I’m not 100% into
I agree with the white stripes on blue / black denim being a lil much that’s why I went with black on black
As far as sizing idk man I have some oni’s I got from blue owl and the sizing was on point so who knows but I know OKAYAMA DENIM and DENIMIO also have stuff from them and have great customer service / sizing charts and I think as long as it’s not final sale they should all have decent return/exchange policy
DONT let me scare you out of ******* with blue owl tho they’re great

I actually ordered my 3sixteens from blue owl, great customer service. I’d imagine they have some type of return policy, but I don’t think they will on altered items. I plan on having them hemmed there, to save me money/time.

any shrinkage/stretching with the sanforized momos?

Had them less than a year n wore them less than any other denim in my rotation cuz at my fattest they are TIGHT and at my skinniest they are still pretty damn tight so no noticeable stretching

I’m worried about them getting any tighter from washing so they haven’t touched water yet but also haven’t had a reason too

out of the 7 or 8 pairs I’m rotating only 2
Have been hand washed once in the last year

Yeah, Momotaro is a quality brand.. I used to fixate on brands and try to force it, PBJ brings back terrible memories.. I would just focus on sizing, there's so many great brands that you really can't go wrong.

If it's sanforized, there should be minimal to no shrinkage. You can always force shrinkage but I wouldn't recommend it.

I’m more concerned with stretch than shrinkage, but shrinkage can be a concern if it’s an issue with a certain brand/style, especially if they’re sanforized.

at the moment, I think I’ve narrowed it down to momotaro, Japan blue, or oni.... I’ve read that oni can be a pretty soft denim (which I’m not crazy about when new) even at heavier weights, but the patterns look really nice.

Oni’s and PBJ material Wise are My favorite
They both have a crazy artisanal hand feel and visual texture where as I feel like I’m actually getting something very handmade and special for my $
ONI secret denim is feel like some sweatpants to me PBJ more like denim potato sacks

Onis are famous for stretching a lot in the waste and not snapping back much after
I personally enjoy it because I eat drink and be merry a good 3rd of the year like most Americans and def can use the extra give in the waste line area

i also have the red caliper 16oz onis tho.. and they are not as notoriously soft as the secret denim
They are def closer to your more conventional 16oz stuff stiffness wise

Visual texture is definitely what’s drawing me towards oni... how do they fade/show wear being that they’re so soft? I’m not exactly excited about wearing cardboard around for a few weeks while I break in denim, but I do enjoy the process of the wear. Seems you miss out on that part with the softer onis.

Went into self edge today and copped a pair of iron hearts. Definitely glad I tried on before I bought. Let’s see how this goes.

Go by your waste size/ the size chart measurements NOT by the tag size

EDIT s dubl like I’m between 31.5 and 32 waste but my secret denim tag size ( from blue in green) is a 29!

That’s what I was thinking. I’m roughly a 36, and was thinking to go with a 34.

Yeah, Oni texturally is very unique and they have some great slim tapered cuts. I used to wear a cut from them 4-5 years ago but I can’t remember the model. When it comes to sizing, I’m always very focused on the thigh measurement but I’m not sure if that applies to you as well.

Yeah if you’re of the thicker thighded persuasion you should size for thighs and then worry about everything else secondarily

Waist and thigh are definitely my main concerns. I’m not skinny by any means, but I’m not that big either, at least I don’t think so lol.

I’ve narrowed it down to some 15.7 oz momotaros, and the 20oz oni secret denim. If I had more time to actually wear my jeans to validate buying both, I would.... but I have to choose between the two. Might come down to a coin flip. Lol.
