Something I just realized about trading Pau, especially for someone like Josh Smith then makes us even less deep in the front court..

Hill can't play Center... Smith can't play center.. Also means Jamison would have to play SF ( I'm sure PMatic & CP have now had a brain aneurism at the thought of this again)

And what happens when Howard needs to sit? Who plays Center? Sure Smith is a great defensive player and could most likely handle his own, but then the offense is 5 guys standing around.

So if we were to trade Pau.. We would need to get back a starting PF, backup Center, a shooter..

And we'd still have no PG who makes the bench better and creates shots.

Hill can play Center for 5 minutes a half just fine leaving Dwight at 38 minutes per.

And you can play Hill/Smith/Kobe/Meeks/Blake to still keep the same system moving. Pick and rolls with Kobe/Smith, Meeks and Blake are shooters, Hill would need to camp out or lurk near the rim but the Lakers used to do the pick and roll with Kobe/LO and then High-Low it to Pau at the rim. Same thing here. Smith could attack the rim, or he could dump off to Hill.

Other option would be to pick and roll with Kobe/Hill, but that's not ideal.

Again tho, 10 minutes a night, and if Kobe is on the floor at that time, it won't be that big on an issue.

If they tried to run Hill, Smith, Artest out there all at once, then I would turn off my tv for about 5-7 minutes to be safe.

The Los Angeles Lakers may have hired Phil Jackson as their next head coach had he not hesitated when meeting with Mitch Kupchak and Jim Buss.
Jackson asked for two more days to contemplate coming back to the Lakers.
"We would have gone back immediately and gone back and holed up with Dr. [Jerry] Buss and decided what we were going to do that day," Kupchak said.
The Lakers moved forward with Mike D'Antoni after not hearing back from Jackson for approximately 30 hours.
"There was no agreement to wait for [Jackson's] response on Monday," Kupchak said. "He told us that's when he would get back to us. I could see where he might interpret that as 'You guys would wait for me.' But I thought when I said I had to go on and interview other candidates that it was clear I had a job to do."

sounds like Lakers misscommunicated

probably not.. because jim buss looked more like he wanted nothing to do with jackson.. if jim buss wanted jackson or anyone related to him, he would've picked brian shaw in the first place.. trying to cleanse the laker organization of phil jackson and everything related to him..

dont sit here and say we didnt hear from him for 30 hours, when they had a meeting scheduled for monday and jackson was about to sign on the dotted line and his agent flew in, yet they make it look like it was jackson's mistake.. i put all the blame on jim buss.. sure, they had all the right to choose whoever they want, but that's just dirty to do that to such a respect coach.

Hmm.. I stand corrected.. Withdrawn...

I'm curious how minutes would play out... And by the way, this is purely speculative because as of now.. It's not happening...

Smith & Howard both can play 35-36 minutes, as many as 38.. Which I think anyone would rather them be at 35-36, regardless of age if you're 24 or 34 years old, 38 minutes is a lot over a full season.. So Jamison would undoubtedly be at the SF position half of his minutes.. HELL TRADE HIM FOR KORVER :lol

And again..... Jim Buss gets scapegoated for no reason

Jamison doesn't have to play SF, but he would need to be moved around a bit.

He could play with Hill, but not against teams good down low. Against lesser teams.

He can also get minutes at 4 next to Dwight when you separate Dwight and Josh. (as they should be doing when they separate Dwight and Pau, someday, a ******g Laker higher up will catch on to this)

He can play "some" 3, just as Ron could play "some" 4, or 2. Not for long stretches, but a possession here, 3-5 minute stretch there. It's doable.

This was what I was alluding to.. But let's assume Jamison goes back to regular form....

And please no Ron at the 2... :lol

Makes my head hurt trying to figure out how to get the minutes to people.. But 20 for Jamison, 17 for Hill, 17 for Meeks seems right to me.. So long as Meeks gets most of his minutes with Nash..

Still leads us to the same point, we need a backup PG who can create for others.

Jamison is not getting 26 minutes a night on the Lakers unless 2 guys die in the frontcourt. Be real.

He's 36, and a liability on defense at either forward spot, that does not equate to 26 minutes per night. LO barely got 30 a night when Bynum and Pau were both playing, Jamison would never sniff 26.

I don't buy this we gave him 30 hours spin. There was no chance of dantoni getting another job. And he was injured. No need to rush a decision like dantoni was some highly wanted asset.

But I am curious to see this whole thing. So much talent and a self motivator unlike melo.

I didn't realize dantoni is 61. Makes me question if he will really change up things like he should.

It all depends on who we play.... Metta gets what 30.. Ebanks is likely done here.. So you'd have to fill in 18 minutes... Kobe can give maybe 4-5 (But then he's playing 36-37 minutes again, unless you push Meeks to 20 minutes. To put Kobe at the 25-28 mark at SG. And if you want to keep Meeks effective, you have to keep Nash with him).. The rest would of the 3's minutes would have to go to Jamison... Metta should have no business with over 30 minutes.

Jamison then gets some minutes at the 4. He'd then be at 20+

Not having a good enough backup PG makes rotations so much more difficult when you have guys who need someone to create shots for them.. Or else they'll be bumbling around 15 minutes with 3 points (Jamison, Meeks)

but you sign jamison because he would help the bench's offensive production.. if you're not gonna let him play, why even sign him?? besides he is a different player than lamar.. jamison doesnt need the shots that lamar needed.. jamison can be productive offensively without any touches.. and for a 36 year old, he still was a productive player last year with the cavs. 17.2 ppg in 33 minutes.. tawn can get it done.. he just needs time to adjust to the system

besides steve nash is even older than jamison and an even bigger liability on defense..

Something I just realized about trading Pau, especially for someone like Josh Smith then makes us even less deep in the front court (not at PF, but at C)

Hill can't play Center (would make it tougher for him to grab garbage rebounds at the Center spot)... Smith can't play center.. Also means Jamison would have to play SF ( I'm sure PMatic & CP have now had a brain aneurism at the thought of this again)

What happens when Howard needs to sit? Who plays Center? Sure Smith is a great defensive player and could most likely handle his own, but then the offense is 5 guys standing around for at least 12 minutes per game.

So if we were to trade Pau.. We would need to get back a starting PF, backup Center, a shooter..

And we'd still have no PG who makes the bench better and creates shots.

How likely would the Hawks be to make a deal that guts their roster.. When everyone they give us would be an expiring contract.

Essential 1 do you have a life outside of Niketalk & ESPN trade machine? :lol

I have never seen anyone talk about so many different trade scenarios for the Lakers!

Not hating cause i always read your post but isn't your brain fried by now?

Yes, school :lol . It was much worse last year.. Basically it has to do with Kobe, being in Upstate NY, I've never been able to see him play.. So I pretty much have said I'll watch every Lakers game I can before he retires... I'm not lucky enough to have a chance to see him live 41+ times a year for 17 years... If I did it'd be different..

Which then evolved into reading everything I can about FO stuff last year at the time we got CP3. Then lost him :{ . Then when the Dwight rumors started.. Was just fairly interesting, so I stuck with reading about it.

So it probably will last a couple years until Kobe goes.. Then I'll still watch the Lakers when they are on National TV.. And interesting games during the year, so long as I'm free.

I lived in update NY for 3 yrs...Rochester, NY
Later on I moved to Chicago and every time Lakers are in town, I attend the game
Living in Chicago and being a Lakers fan is HARD WORK! But i guess haters gonna hate.
I just love the fact Laker Nation is all over the map

I think the hardest place to be a Lakers fan is right here in SoCal...especially LA. Its the most annoying thing in the world.

Los Angeles LakerHaters are THEE worst.

He got 16 shots a game last year for those 17 points.

As you were......

Hook it up bro!!

Discount?

Season ticket holder prices. So yes, discounted from what you would pay through ticketmaster. Great seats too. PM me if you're looking to go to a specific game that isn't OKC or Miami. It's from a corporate pool but they're usually available.
