DC Studios THREAD - GunnVerse Begins - The Penguin out 9/19 then every Sunday on MAX

I try not to think about JL. I'm still hoping for DC to pull through with this next phase. Hopefully Wan can bless us with an Aquaman teaser soon.

Zach Levi is suited up. Hopefully we get a tease or reveal soon. I read the director wanted to release something official before one of those paparazzi sites leaks it with on set photos.

The fact that DC even considered casting someone like Zachary Levi tells me that DC is trying to get their dark days behind them.

They spent way too long letting Snyder influencing everything.

I was reading an article yesterday and it had a point. Snyder's style should be a specialty that takes up a corner of a universe, kinda like how James Gunn's comedic style is relegated to a corner of a universe. In no way should either style be a blueprint for a connected universe though.

What I would do if I were WB is to keep Snyder on board, and have him do a 300 style film... I really want to learn more about Darkseid and the Old Gods and New Gods, and their battles. Each movie could contain a 5-7 min scene from the battles, or background info, because the Steppenwolf battle was beautiful... eventually lead us to Darkseid. That can build anticipation for him through the years while they build the universe, and eventually lead to a JL film down the line. We know Lanterns were there. As were the Atlanteans and Amazonians. What if the Wizards participated? What if Kryptonians had crossed paths with the Gods before ( we kind of know they have because Steppenwolf has disgust for Superman).

Synder could make an epic series of scenes that could somehow tie the past with the present. Probably makes more sense in my head lol.

I still don’t like the zach levi casting. Maybe because in the cartoons shazam looks like a slightly shorter superman. Dude supposed to have a big jaw and is swole.

Joaquin Phoenix in Talks to Play the Joker in Todd Phillips’ Standalone Movie

Joaquin Phoenix is in talks to play the Clown Prince of Crime in Warner Bros. and Todd Phillips’ untitled Joker origin movie.

While studio negotiations are not yet underway, Phillips has made it clear that Phoenix is the top choice to star and sources now tell Variety that, after thinking it over, Phoenix has agreed to the role. WB had no comment.

Phillips is on board to co-write and direct the movie. Phillips had met with Phoenix before the new year and was just waiting for the studio’s go-ahead, sources say.

Scott Silver will join Phillips as a co-writer on the film, which will delve into what it took for the Joker to become a mastermind criminal. Sources say the story will take place in the ’80s and have more of the look of a gritty crime drama than comic-book movie.

Wow never thought they'd get talks with Joaquin Phoenix.
Looking on the bright side here, but if they can get Phoenix and other top tier actors to give their take on the Joker, I think thats a pretty good idea

I will admit he has the look and thinking about him in Gladiator I think he could really play a psycho well. I am out on DC however I will come back to pick and choose some movies. The DC animated movies they can just take all my money I will always watch those.

I'm interested solely in Joaquin. The 80's period pieces are getting old to me.

I mean Joaquin says he's not down for these movies but he talked with Marvel about Dr. Strange.

DC with this new studio said they wanted Leo for Joker as far as aspirations. So makes sense they talk with Joaquin.

todd philips as in the hangover todd philips? the here for the gang bang in old school todd philips?
