DC Studios THREAD - GunnVerse Begins - The Penguin out 9/19 then every Sunday on MAX

Finally watched JL last night. The best compliment I can give it is that's re-watchable. No way I could sit through BvS or Suicide Squad a second time but I wouldn't mind sitting through JL again.

And as cheesy as that post-credits scene was,,,, I enjoyed the f*ck out of it. Deathstroke is everything

I don't have much of a desire to see JL again but I would concede multiple viewings just for those fight scenes. They were great. Especially the 2nd act battle beneath Gotham Harbor.

I also want to watch the possible Snyder cut because it probably has much more Cyborg. I think Vic was actually one of my favorite characters in the movie

I hated that opening scene with Batman. I thought it was real corny how the burglar character all of a sudden goes into "whose gonna protect us now that Superman's gone" mode. Like they couldn't have given those lines to anyone else?

The one nitpick I will give is that Batman made too many jokes and he's seen DRINKING with Diana.

My Bruce Wayne does not put harmful chemicals in his body, dammit!!

Finally seen Justice League last night, the things I liked I REALLY liked, the things I disliked I REALLY disliked. I swear if it wasn't for BvS this could of been an excellent movie, but it had to tie back to it to some extent.. Flash was a little annoying but he's bearable, doubt I will watch his solo flick whenever its made. Cyborg literally came out of nowhere, he has practically zero backstory, if you weren't paying attention in BvS you would have no idea who he was or why he fused with a mother box. I dont even know what accident he had or how his mom died. Jason is clearly having the time of his life playing Aquaman, although he had the same issue of Cyborg with zero backstory. That bubble **** was so stupid. I did like the fact they atleast touched on Batman's age, he's clearly setting up Wonder Women so he can leave (If he was younger this wouldn't need to happen). When yall say butt shots I assumed it was in costume, I cant really knock Whedon/Snyder for that. Gadot is sexy, no matter what angle she's shot at, what do you expect to happen when she's in leather pants. The scene with Flash was overstated too. I swear if I didn't hear about beforehand I wouldn't of even noticed it.

Steppenwolf was fine, he looked and was powerful and racked up a body count. Thats all I needed from him, I'm not sure who mother is (Granny Goodness?) but did people expect him to be the Joker or some ****? Nah, he's here to pose a threat, thats it. The flashback scene was nice though. Good to know the Lanterns exist in this universe. Superman/Cavill was ******* amazing, he was the highlight of the whole film. I dont think he took blow the entire film, once he woke up he was looking like Tyson in his prime in the ring. I was kind of thrown off by how quickly he integrated with the team, dude was killing em in one scene then 15 minutes later he's calling Flash a slowpoke and shooting one liners with Cyborg (which was odd as well since Cyborg was brooding damn near the whole film). Again, this could of been avoided if he aint die in the first place, but yall know how I feel about that. When did Diana get so close with Clark as well? She knew his birth name and spoke with him as if they were best friends when he got resurrected, even knew the name of his home planet. Anyone notice the cops when Louis showed up? Doesn't that mean Superman's identity is known now, I mean they called him Clark a few times right in front of the police.

Seeing the last team shot, this film did give me hope for the future of the DCEU. If they can rectify a few glaring mistakes (cant WAIT to see how they justify Clark coming back to life to his coworkers, he even wore the same disguise) then they can really be successful. I'm not a CGI expert but aside from the very first scene with the kids (Why?) Superman's face didn't look THAT bad. They have got to get a younger Batman though. No way they can go against Darkside and him survive. Still not a fan of Luthor, Deathstroke cant save that. The race was pretty cool too even though I would've liked for Superman to had ran as well. I had very low expectations for this movie and I was pleasantly surprised. This may have been slightly more enjoyable than Man of Steel and WAAAAYYYYY better than BvS (any cut):lol: at pet cemetery though.

EDIT: I saw in 3D for what its worth

What is this out of 10 nonsense? Review automatically void!

Snyder had a much bigger role for Cyborg in mind and you can tell that a lot of his story was cut

Rep this man for using the proper grading scale

You may be right, we didn't really get any sort of explanation as to why he ended up the way he did. Only reason I knew his mom passed is because his dad mentioned it off hand

I feel they directly addressed it once. There was some accident (an explosion iirc) that killed his mom and almost killed Vic.

His dad then used cybernetics and the mother box to save his life.

movie was a mess. uneven tone, horrible editing. But the characters really made it enjoyable.
The Superman arc was the dumbest I've ever seen. Movie was SUPER CAMPY, no edge
whatsoever. Had fun watching even as I pick up on everything I hate which is a lot.

With that said, I want more Bats and WW. They can kill everyone else off. Jeez.

I feel like, especially given what we've had with the DCeU, the campy Supes was both a welcome reprieve and an ironically refreshing return to form for a character who has been deconstructed, reconstructed, and retooled for years

Corny optimistic journalist from Kansas who uses his incidental god-like powers to help people because that's how he was raised

It ain't that complicated

Just listened to that Junkie XL Justice League theme.

Nothing special, it sounds like trailer music tbh. Its a good little battle theme, but nothing memorable. Especially for a main theme.

*edit* it is trailer music :lol whoever said it was junkie was fake news

I remember the Avengers theme. I distinctly remember WW's theme. I recall the old Bat and Supes themes in JL.

I don't have any recollection of what the JL theme was at all. It wasn't the cartoon one, it wasn't the one from the animated movies or past iteration, it wasn't some remixed version of the Superfriends theme so I'm wondering if there really was one.

I don't put a lot of emphasis on a score unless it really enhances the movie experience but this movie didn't make me notice much.

The more I think about this movie the more I believe it really doesn't deserve to be suffering in the box office like this

And yea score was trash. If BvS wasn't so booty maybe Zimmer-Gawd might have stayed on for JL.

I agree with most of what you said. I did enjoy Flash too..

I saw Wonder Woman for the first time a few days ago on my flight over from Portugal. Took my family to see Just League last night. Gal and Wonder Woman are easily the best thing the DCEU have going. This was definitely way better than BvS.

I wanted to dislike Cyborg because his demeanor was so different from the way I’ve seen him depicted in the past but man... I REALLY liked him. Flash was dope too. If there is really more footage out there that fleshes out Cyborg’s origin/motivation, I gotta see it.

They finally got to Superman actually being SUPERMAN. I don’t know what the hell they did with him in BvS but to me, this is the progression we should’ve seen from him immediately following MOS. I really liked that interview the kids did with him for their blog, aside from the weird CGI lol.

I really liked Batfleck in BvS. He was the best part of that trash film. Here, he’s the worst to me. If he wants out, let him out. We need a younger, more physical, athletic, and cerebral Batman. His lack of a desire to be in this role is shining through now. Cut him loose. Overall 6/8 for me. I’d watch it again.

Its the law of diminishing returns.

MoS wasn't good enough and made money. BvS was terrible and made even more. SS was garbage and did #s. JL was okay and its suffering for past trash.

Haven't seen WW but apparently as good as ppl say it was it wasn't enough to help JL break records.

I cannot get over how DC/Snyder has handicapped themselves, and JL is suffering for it. Suicide Squad shouldn't of been made so soon, if at all. Wonder Women shouldn't of been in BvS, and neither should of the Flash. It should of came after a second Superman film at least. That one film has really screwed **** up and put a dent in Snyder's resume moving forward. I know dude has got to be going through it with everything that's happened in the last few years.
