Yes and no.
There are 3 major groups down in south africa, specifically Joburg
Black, coloured , and white....
You have quite a few middle easterners out there, too. I'm guessing geographical perspective has to do with that more than anything.
Apartheid just ended 20 years ago, so basically 20% of the whites controlled 80% of the country, while much of the black people scrambled around, lived in poverty, etc.
The middle ground are the coulered folks.
I would compare them to the Creole folks of here.
Most coulored South Africans are the lighter skin tons because they're a mix of black and white africans. They come from a very elitist back ground because they had the benefits of the white people, without exactly being white.
White people accepted the coloureds more than the Black south Africans, so there's MUCH tension between the two.
The funny part is, the coloureds right now aren't really too accepted by the Blacks OR the whites... I'm guessing after years of crapping on the blacks.. when apartheid ended, they tried to scramble back but things weren't kosher.
The coloured women are FINE AS **** because they can have white, black, middle eastern, etc all mixed in.... but you'll see many are poor and uneducated.
The black south africans are fly, too. but some people are just not too keen on african beauty b/c it highlights more africanoid features and not the caucasion features. The chicks have REALLY nice skin (mostly due to their diets) and are built like frickin brickhouses. It's amazing the average woman looks like a damn chick in a 2 Chainz "big booty o" video.
In regards to the business structure, it's still heavily tilted towards white people, but the government has taken a lot of steps to preventing that.
I'm not quite sure of the particulars, but a lot of the businesses that come in have to have native south africans, or black people or something... but there ARE requirements on the makeup of the leadership when it comes to the company.
Black south africans have a legitimate dislike for white people out there (mainly because apartheid). I talked w/ some older black dudes, and they just crapped all on them...
The thing is, it's still not equal, but they've made TREMENDOUS strides. What took us damn near 100 years... they've accomplished in 20. I think the advancement of technology plus looking at the history of america has a lot to do with it.
Any other questions, famb.... lemme know...
My aunt is a native south African... born and raised. They just recently moved to the states.
