Could you live without your cell phone or mobile internet for a year?

Internet- Yes.
Cellie, probably not, although I'm i plan on downgrading on my next one.

I honestly want to detach myself, slowly and eventually of course, from technology.

I don't plan on having internet when I move out on my own.

...

Yes, I could. I have for a while. It's hard though. Especially with tryna get at women. They're so attached to their phones

but what would you fap to? i kid i kid but it kinda is sad that some pple are so tech dependant that they cannot live or even fathom a life without it. this leads to a very sad future for us all. imagine a person saying i couldnt live with a car that i have to manually control. or a book id have to manually open and flip the pages, or a walkway, sidewalk etc in which i would have to exert energy and lift my feet and legs and use them as a means of travel.

For those that have said yes, easily, etc how would you communicate with people when you are away from a computer/ wifi access? Haven't seen a pay phone in a while.

Son, I still got a house phone.
I'll pretend I'm a cast member on Jersey Shore or Real World, except instead of months. this will now be my life.
I'm sure my ability of remembering phone numbers from the 90s will come back to me...hopefully.

Yes, easily. It would be inconvenient, but still not a problem.

I'll wait until I get to a computer. Unless there's something urgent, everything can wait. It would be kinda bad if something important/someone needed my help urgently and I couldn't be reached though.

However, I haven't been in a situation where I needed my phone during the day. People can shoot me an email and I'll check it at night.

Yes. And yes. Thought you meant all internet at first then I read the question again

Living without a cell would be hard bc i have people i need to be able to reach at all times.

Mobile internet is nothing to me

I browse NT every once in a while on my iPhone but its main function is for calls/text. Its nice to be able to look up stats/check my email on the go but im either at my crib (laptop) , working (no phone needed), or on campus (library).

Copped the iPhone because it's what was hot at the time (ya i said it). Id b good with an old school Nokia as long as i can text.

I pay almost 90/month tho

You know what--one of the BIG reasons for wanting to detach myself has to do with, ironically enough, my desire to escape from fap-inducing content...

I was born Christian, I was raised Christian, and for me, personally, porn has been a great evil in my life...

. It's something I honestly despise, deep down inside.

I realized a long time ago that one of the best ways for me to resist the urge to watch that stuff would be to just go off-line, permanently. And it's something I'm committed to doing when I finally get my own place. This is also why I am downgrading my phone. I don't want some fancy phone that is capable of serving as an access point to that kind of material.

(I don't expect the large pro-atheist caucus of this forum to understand, so spare me whatever arguments you're coming up with).

IDK--I just want a simple, technology (internet based) free life.

Cell phone - yes for 5 year and counting. I have a home phone. Through out the day I will call my love one to check up on them. Since they can't reach me directly.

I work in the mobile (cell phone) space, so no I probably cannot do without my cellphone.

if i didn't have a job or friends i could live without my cell phone

i wish i could live without the internet but I'm way to attached, maybe if i was really wealthy and could travel around the world all year or find something else to occupy my time

i hear what your saying but the true test and fullfilment of said goal is to overcome not avoid. Your argument kinda reminds me of the prison system. Taking a pedophile off the street doesnt cure or hender his desire for little kids, it only place him in a position where he cannot rape kids. my understanding is that in christianity is that you should overcome and resist temptation, not place yourself in a position where no temptation could occur.

I could easily, a cell phone is nice for emergencies and is convenient but lately I have been wondering if I even need it. I used to use my phone all the time now I don't use it for anything except sending pointless texts throughout the day. Was sold on buying the Galaxy Nexus on release but I can't bring myself to drop $300 on a phone when I hardly use the damn thing as it is.

phone and mobile internet access can be gone, ive went 6 months without a cell and ive just recently purchased a data plan so i can definitely go without both for a year IF IT WAS NECESSARY, not just because
