I spoke with a Nike rep, they referred me to a specialist who asked for pictures and a few questions and said they would contact me in 1-2 business days. I did this with the hopes of receiving 20% off for the backwards Cole. I had no contact from Nike for 7 days so I emailed them last night asking for any information on my inquiry and received this email back.

The Jordan DB retro 3 Cole's were a great shoe. Cole's story is a courageous one.

I know you must be frustrated about how the shoes turned out. The good news is we are sending you a new pair.
It is expected to ship to you this Monday or Tuesday 8/5/12 via Next Day Air. It will be shipped via Fedex.

A tracking number is not available yet but please watch your email for a tracking number by Tueday.

I've been through this situation as well.  In my case they charged my debit card for the second pair and when I returned the 1st pair, I got refunded..

Either way in your case, whether they charged you or not - you have 2 pairs and multiple ways you can go about it (reselling....?)

I'm down to get charged again if I get that second pair.

I think results will vary. Seems like it's all about who reviews the discrepancy from Nike's end. Others who have already contacted Nike with their flawed pairs were simply given coupon codes, while he was given an absolutely new pair. In fact, it even seems like the process has differed for people. Some were given coupon codes instantly to compensate for the defects, while his inquiry was escalated to a specialist to handle the matter.

I'm guessing that he was genuine, not pushy, and didn't set off the bs meter. Not a lot of people can accomplish that nowadays. I got zero, and he got 2 pair. I'm not going to hate, but love the way it happened. Must be karma, he must have done something awesome this week.

Most likely, but either way, dude is definitely lucky...nice to see Nike reach out and do that though
 
Monday 7/28 I chatted with nike and uploaded a picture of my "eloc" pattern. I was just contacted by nike corporate. They told me they searched their inventory but are unable to find another size ten. Offered me a discount code for being a value customer.

nike has a soft spot for the kids someone higher up on nike who hears a complaint from a kid who sounds genuine and sincere will be more inclined to remedy the situation compared to some guy calling em up being like ayo im angry these jays are pre-scuffed gimme a discount code  im a paying consumer i want my quality goods

never even heard of nike replacing GR's like that let a lone a damn QS that was limited like a motha

nah, just the right person at the right time. you got to know if they are handing out free stuff, theres probably extra paper work to do and mgmt approval. Its probably quick and easy, but people are lazy, annoyed, or don't care. 
 
Well I just got off the phone a few minutes ago with the Nike consumer specialist about my backwards "COLE". Took a little over a week as they escalated it to their consumer dept. and advised me I had to wait for a response. She told me "we have been trying to check back with our wherehouse for a replacement pair but unfortunately were unable to secure one for exchange. You would be able to return for a full refund though and we would give you 20% discount for the trouble."

I had no plans to return them at all and politely said "Even though they are backwards I would keep them and also they went towards a good cause."

She then of course offered me the 20% off coupon in the end. Better than nothing of course.

My pair was a size 10 btw

Wish my story was as good as 3miyasaki3 :lol

Recently happened for mint brons. Dude complained and they sent him another pair.
