Circuit City going under?

They were supposed to open up a brand new one in Alhambra, Ca, which is like 2 miles from my house too. I wonder if it's going to happen.

hopefully the one by me closes, i want a in dash TV for the chevy, and i need a new TV for my room

I'd never wish a company bankruptcy and have many innocents lose their jobs, but the CC's around my way need some SERIOUS overhauling.

Everyone of them is a dump; everything thrown around, inefficient workers sitting on their *$@, never having any new stuff, no organization etc etc.

I hope they can get it together.

SMH never thought the economy was going to directly effect me as a broke college student but uh... here it is
The current direction of the economy has nothing to do with Circuit City closing down. I use to work at Circuit City myself back in college, right before they stopped having people as commission based, needless to say it was great times back then but you could tell even back then that Best Buy waseating away at CC and that the company was poorly ran by upper management and that was about 7 years ago. All CC did was change there slogan to be......."We're With You"

as if somehow that was going tochange things around and get people to come into the doors. The downfall of Circuit City is management and just allowing Best Buy to dominate them like theyhave and will continue to do.

losing jobs... losing a competitor in the electronics sector means higher prices we have to pay.

I mean - why is this good? Nobody ever forced you to buy anything there.

My thoughts exactly. If you have to purchase at a Brick & Mortar store your only choice will be Best Buy and you can pretty much say goodbyeto any deals then.

circuit city has horrible customer service.

i swear i once went for like 20 minutes looking for some help.

i stood in the middle of store just looking around at all these punks just messing around.

good for them.

Damn. My boy who works there sent me the text yesterday after their morning meeting. Tough to hear.

I spent two years at CC, it's sad to see.

The thing about it, two guys in the computer area walked right past us and it was obvious that we needed help; they just didn't bother. I refuse to spend money somewhere where the employees won't even bother to ask if you need help.
amen.. people w/ that kind of work ethic don't deserve a job.. stay home if you want to chat up with your buddies.

seriously my dad had some trouble with them too...bought something, they never sent bill, we got overcharged so we called them and they said ok we'lldelete that and send you the bill asap, nothing came till later then got overcharged again, called and they said they won't override it because they did itbefore already and basically said it's our fault for trying to pay via mail and said we should get online payment.

also got ripped off on my car alarm there...free install my *** after this and that fee it was almost 100$.

It was bound to happen and wouldn't be surprised if the company eventually goes under unless they make some major changes. Their management and approach isway too lax compared to Best Buy, which actually holds their associates to some level of accountability. Their strategy over the last year was to improve thecustomer experience and they tried to execute it by cutting back hours and having less associates around at a given time to help customers. That plus the factthe environment is really lax and undisciplined is what's really crapping on them.

The economy has nothing to CC folding. They dug their own grave when they fired the people who knew what they were doing and hired people just towork shifts like Dirty said in another CC thread. If you're really broke as you say you are sell your kicks.

The last time I went to CC, I bought Idlewild when it came out. It took probably 20 minutes to checkout with only about 3 people in front of me. Before that Iwent to by a flat screen, I had to practically beg someone to come help me. After that I shop at Best Buy only, I don't care what kind of deals CC has.

Newegg, Amazon, Buy.com, Ebay.........

Brick and mortar stores are for the impatient and/or non frugal.

it was all downhill once they went off commission 5 or so years ago....sales people stop selling then....but I am looking forward to a great deal on a TV andAppliances....!!!!!!
