Circuit City going under?

Damn, I used to work at store 235...RIP.

My manager was cool there and down for the good pricing whenever I came back.

since it's been said they are going to be wiped out before black friday, they've gotta start liquidating some of their merchandise soon don't they?Anyone know when we can expect some deals to go down?

Sry for the double post but has anyone here worked for circuit city as a seasonal employee and got to stay around..?

Im not really trying to go job hunting again so what are the possibilities that im kept..?

The current direction of the economy has nothing to do with Circuit City closing down. I use to work at Circuit City myself back in college, right before they stopped having people as commission based, needless to say it was great times back then but you could tell even back then that Best Buy was eating away at CC and that the company was poorly ran by upper management and that was about 7 years ago. All CC did was change there slogan to be ......."We're With You"

as if somehow that was going to change things around and get people to come into the doors. The downfall of Circuit City is management and just allowing Best Buy to dominate them like they have and will continue to do.

co-sign. i worked there from 99-02 back when the sales rep were on commission. i could see the writing on the wall then. back in 01 a best buy opened acrossthe street from us and we started losing business. it seemed like one week our focus would be customer service then the next week it would be we changed ourminds just focus on selling products. they were so wishy-washy on what they wanted to. plus they lost a lot and i mean a lot of money on divx. i think like 100million. when they went from commission to hourly i knew it would hurt them. but when they dropped the hourly people that knew what they were doing that wasthe death knell. i'm not surprised that i see my old store on the list (4303 fairfield, ca). i went in there on saturday and it was a ghost town. best buymust be laughing all the way to the bank they are now the only game in town in most cities. thankfully i live in san jose now so i still have frys to go to.

my friend just got a job there & i had an interview also.. they are still hiring for the season?

I'm telling you guys, there will be HUGE sales very soon. They will have to liquidate everything they have in the store. Once all their product is sold, they can close the store down.

deng the store i use to work at, 4229 is closing. It barely opened in FEB. so it hasnt even been a year yet

don't count on it dude when the only local store closing is the one in Compton. Not the one at Lakewood Mall, not the one off the 405 on Atlantic, not theone off of Firestone. I think it's safe to say they'll transfer the inventory to these stores.

The stores are closing on Tuesday for liquidators to come in, price everything, and tear down all the CCity signage and whatnot. Stores open again on Wednesdaywith whatever markdowns have been made. I know 3 of the bay area locations are doing this for sure, so I assume this is how it'll go down for most of theothers.

I dont think liquidators are buying up CC. Right now the company is just selling off some products to other stores such as Biglots andtransferring some inventory to stores that make better sales. Most of the stuff that will go on sale are junk or display items. Dont expect to see LCD TVsmarked down.

Deals is gonna be like crazy! I hope the one nearby me is closing shops, sucks for my friend though... he'll be out of a job.

Whaaaaaaat. I haven't got a chance to look at the list of stores closing. I was hoping the 1 on firestone would close. Or even the lakewood store. There's 1 by the attic, but besides that I don't know of any more around here

They need to shut the one by my crib down ASAP. I went in there on Friday after not having been there in forever. Worst store ever. They made the"rap" section literally like 2 bins. Wack.

And they had no PS3 controllers. Or the newest Devin The Dude album.

Horrible.

Can't wait for a sale

at liquidation for Mervyn's, they were bumping up prices for levi's around the 50$ mark and just added a 25% off, when before the actual liquidationthey were going for 37

Is the one in BP closing?

hell not even the one in Montebello?!

like 562 said...CC will liquidate before they pass on the savings to consumers. They rather transfer inventory then lose out more at this point.
