Well not as nice (or old) as some others, but dammit... they're mine!
My original Air Solo Flights (1990) sz 10.5
My original Air Solo Flights (1990) sz 11.5 - DS
I bought the white/black's back in 1990 because a bunch of us were going to start ballin' every Friday at lunch at a gym in Chinatown (Oakland). I hadn't played regularly since I gave up the game entering my freshman year of high school. (I was a sub-six-foot post player.) I wore those religiously... but only on the court. Eventually we lost our "in" at the gym, so we moved our efforts to the blacktop at Laney College (Across from the Henry J. Kaiser Convention Center) R.I.P. They've since replaced our lovey hoops courts with tennis courts.
I bought the white/navy/yellow's last year to relive my youth... that and the sz 10.5 didn't fit any more. (I still can't figure out how I ever squeezed into them.)
Anyway, back when I played regular (pre-1982) Nike was just begining to roll out hoops shoes to compete with Adidas, Converse and Puma. Needless to say, I was a Puma Clydes man all the way back then. (I still can't remember what my first pair of Nike's actually were, but I seem to remember having a pair of nylon Cortez-like running shoes.)
Great thread!
And just think, the admins of this site said there wasn't enough interest for an "OLD SCHOOL" Forum.
