Blacks should get reparations for everything that occured between 1930-90s

I think they're due...

But me personally... I wouldn't use them... I'd most definitely donate them, or pool them with others that don't need them and try to help out other disenfranchised blacks.

My main concern is not how others would spend it...

There is a statistic out there out there in Michael Zweig's Working Class Majority (and I apologize for not being specific with it, I'll try and return with it tonight) that shines some light on the percentages of people making it out of the lowest quartile.

I remember it being roughly ~5% of the lower quartile making it into the top quartile in terms of income. Conversely, some ~50% retained their status in the upper quartile in terms of income. What's important to remember is that we all know the power to make change (or force its stagnation) comes from the upper quartile. I don't think simply pulling yourself up by your bootstraps is going to make considerable change to this.

Sounds like you guys want socialism.

You do realize that capitalism is the best system there is right? That the system is inherently designed to give advantages to certain individuals. So fix yourself, and the system will be fixed. The system and the individuals that make up that very system are not mutually exclusive.

 says who?

First of all, the US isn't pure capitalism. But secondly, explain how you think capitalism is the best system.

You throw the word "Socialism" around like the fear mongers on Fox News.

Watching the Pruitt Igoe documentary and got to the 30 minute mark and damn :smh:

No, how about you explain to me how it isn't? Seeing as how ya know, have only lived in America.

I have no ill will towards socialism, and I don't watch Fox News.

What stood out to you?
A lot of it did, because I really don't know much about public housing and how all of that  is operated, but the part in which the welfare offices made it a requirement that in order to live there or receive welfare, the dad couldn't be with them. I've heard people throw it around, but I didn't know it was true. They pretty much glossed over that part though, but I instantly made this face as soon as I heard it.

I've always wondered... If reparations was even an option, how do they decide who gets it at this point?

Those of us that have a random ancestor showing up on a plantation or something along the lines of how many generations your family has been in America?

Either way... Still waiting on my 40 acres.

I mean i can't disagree with OP but how is this going to go about? The U.S. Government is going to hand us Black people trillions of dollars and we go back to Africa or we build our own colonies within the U.S.?

If this actually goes down, i'm not opposed to it but it seems very farfetched.
