She's ill informed, a lot of black people who've respected themselves have been killed because of their color.

Also "black on black crime" is just a systematic result of the oppression we've been facing since the dawn of this country.


As if that has anything to do with the fact that what's going on between the police and black folks in this country anyway, I loathe people who think that way.

How would you guys approach a SISTA saying that this is all happening because "we dont respect ourselves so we cant expect nobody else to respect us and this is why this is happening to us"

she tried ot bring up wheres the outrage for black on black crime . I ethered her on that part

I tried to explain to her and she kinda got my point but I know I coudlve done it much better.

Bring up the fact that "Black on Black crime" was made up by the media to further push an agenda

Ask her why people don't bring up white on white crime when a school shooting happens or when a meth lab blows up?

Tell her that this system of oppression has been around way before "Black on Black crime"

Ask her if she truly believes it's all respect

Bring up the Henry Louis Gates arrest situation

Finally tell her that no matter how you act, what you wear, how many degrees you have, some white people just will not give a damn

After lookin' around for awhile I found that a lot of "self-hate" comes from black women, crazy how many I met who are so willing to dismiss facts to reiterate what they've heard. I think it is just because a lot of women have such a deep rooted need to be socially accepted, my sister to date would say some of the most wild stuff and pushes this self hate so hard on my nephew- it's so bad that I can't even tell her nothing.

All good brother. It sounds cliche, but sometimes for your own psyche if you got nothing nice to say don't say anything.
Even though she may seem like a lost cause, there's plenty of people who said our generation is a lost cause. Taking it further, there's probably someone looking down on the amount of knowledge you possess. The point I'm trying to make is this society we live in is predicated on negativity. We won't get out of it by placing the amount of knowledge we have higher then someone else's because we all bring something to the table.

On a metaphysical level, some people are still asleep and don't wanna be awoken until the alarms go off on their own personal journey. Until then master yourself and let the positivity flow outward.

When you live your life according to your truth, the world will bear witness.

^ Aw man I'm so tired of that irrelevant argument. Idk where these people are from but in Philly, I've seen stop the violence protests all the time as a result of BoB crime. However, that's so irrelevant because the issue isn't about blacks killing blacks.

The issue is about the unjust system. When it's BoB crime the criminal is caught alive, given his fair trial by law and thrown in jail. When it's law enforcement, these unarmed suspects are getting murdered and the cop is free.

Honestly....a lot of 45+ black folk are more out of touch than younger white ppl. Especially those who are middle-upper class. Its sad too, because they usually have the money and resources to have an impact but instead they rather preach this "if you would just be a good negro" b.s.

Most people and mainstream media are completely missing the point. She stopped him because she was afraid he'd become another Freddie Gray. Everyone is trying to spin it like its about the unlawful activity he was going to partake in and not about a black mother's fear that her son may be killed by police.

I also find it ironic that any other time a black parent hits their child people would be ready to call CPS.

Right now the media is using her as a "good negro" showcase as if parents/parenting aren't common in inner city black communities

As if he wont get murked by the cops another time. I would have straight told my mom, "I`m out here because you and your generation did not build anything to protect me from white supremacy, I rather die fighting the beast than die in submission".

Chick is a single mom with 6 kids and only 1 son, theres a reason the kid is out there and thats because the nation and his own family failed him, so now he must act in desperation.

I cried today for the first time in about 10 years. As a black man it troubles me to know that a lot of my friends don't respect or share the same views that there is a serious world wide attack on black people. I literally deleted about 20 of my close friends on FB.

No man, I don't care about them. I'm just frustrated that black people don't seem to understand what's going on. It's beyond sad that a police officer can see a man clearly in extreme pain and not even offer him medical attention, but instead chose neglect and let him die.

It frustrates me that other black people are quick to condemn their own people for looting a box of napkins, but see nothing wrong with Freddie Grays death, it's like our skin color continue to lose and yet no one is realizing that it's us against the world.

My life isn't as important to society as a white person. If a police officer out the blue walks up to me and kills me most people will assume I did something wrong and automatically my death is justified.

It's just pent up anger that I've bottled up for years and it's getting to a point where I can't even sleep at night.

Ij regards to my friends, it's just sad that these are "educated" (I use that term very loosely nowadays) black adults and yet they can't see past anything below the surface. I just don't have room in my life anymore for certain people.
