The unemployment rate for black Americans fell to single digits in April for the first time in nearly seven years. At the same time, the jobless rate among Asian-Americans rose for the first time in six months.
The black unemployment rate in April was 9.6 percent, the lowest level since June 2008. During the financial crisis and recession, the rate had risen as high as 16.8 percent.
Despite the latest improvement, the employment gap by race remains stubbornly wide. The jobless rate for blacks is more than twice that of whites.
Meanwhile, the Asian-American unemployment rate climbed to 4.4 percent from 3.2 percent in March. It was the first such increase since October.
The data for various demographic groups came from a survey of households that is part of the Labor Department's monthly jobs data.

These unemployment numbers put out by the government are a joke. They don't count people who are working part time or have stopped looking for a job. By their definition, if you aren't actively looking for a job you aren't unemployed. This country has almost 93 million people not currently in the workforce, the highest percentage in 37 years.

Bloggers and pundits have said that 90 million Americans either aren’t working or aren’t looking for work. That’s a real number, but it includes high schoolers, college students and retirement-age Americans, leaving perhaps 20 million a better approximation. We rate the claim Mostly False.

As mentioned previously, the labor force is made up of the employed and the unemployed. The remainder—those who have no job and are not looking for one—are counted as not in the labor force. Many who are not in the labor force are going to school or are retired.

A) Politifact is a well known left leaning site. They are a self proclaimed "fact-checking" site but you really shouldn't look to them for unbiased reporting.
B) Unemployed Americans, however you want to classify them and even if what you say is true, have increased from 80 million to 93 million in the past 6 years as you can see in the chart below taken from the BLS report. Unemployment is not down no matter what propaganda the government is putting out there. How can unemployment be down if less people are working? Don't believe everything the government tells you.

This guy thinks 'Unemployment' is the same as 'Not in Labor Force' (The chart you posted)
So my 80 year old great grandmother whose obviously retired, and collecting social security = she's unemployed according to you!
My 16 year old nephew in high school who doesn't even have a driver's license = he's unemployed according to you!

How old are you to not understand this? It even states it on the website.From 2000 - to 2008... it grew 11 million.. the explanation for that growth during the GW Bush era is the same answer as it is today.

No matter what you say, the economy sucks and everyone should know it by now. In 2007, median household income was $56, 436, today it's $54, 332.(source-census department). The unemployment rate is still way too high. But I've been told I'm not welcome in here because I'm not black so I'm out.
