Basketball Thread About Nothing

I’m calling travel at the gym and I know all
y’all are too.

agreed. 🤣

Some people are just salty or don't know how to play at all. This past Saturday I got called for traveling so many times when I took a step back or side step.

it’s understandable tho, especially when most people don’t necessarily know the rules or the rules they are playing by (high school/ncaa vs nba) and if anyone that does something off expected rhythm/timing or a bit awkward, it’s an automatic argument

I play ball to get away from all of life's mental stress but with all these "bending of the rule" moves nowadays, I'll be needing a mental health break from the game:lol:

definitely understand this point of view, it can make pickup games needlessly unbearable when folk attempt stuff like this but personally i love the deeper understanding of the rules and how to take advantage of them on the pro level

love this guy’s hoop content…i don’t think most of it would run smoothly in a pickup game but super creative approach to skill acquisition/training

That move does look wild especially because no one is guarding him. It's definitely legal but him putting the ball through his legs and then he jumps only slightly diagonal makes it look even more strange and unnatural. Having a defender on him would make it much more effective to drive his point.

So what’s the general consensus on pick up for the father step rule- we playing nba rules? Or high school/college?

Same thing for catching your own air balls - nba it’s illegal. Everywhere else it’s legal. Which way is it at the local pick up runs ?

I always play it's illegal. Same as throwing the ball from in bounds to yourself if you lose it.

Also these gen z kids are just mad annoying. Something about all of them having the same exact haircut, everyone is tatted and sleeved up, and everyone is playing with multiple fake gold chains on. Doesn't even matter what color they are, whether they're black, brown, white, or Chinese. They all look the same and come off as being a little extra.

I've realized you can't hoop with anyone no more, people come to the courts with mental baggage from their everyday lives, straight out have egregious behavior. Its best for me now if I'm going to hoop, rent out the gym have a few select respectable people who can keep it civil. Good luck to the people who can deal with the mess in this hyper attention social media generation.

he does have videos with defenders, it looks even wilder 😂

i still don’t fully understand how to explain the gather/zero step difference between high school & nba but it rarely actually is an issue in any runs i see, catching an airball is usually a travel but every so often there will be someone who plays them legal & will usually immediately retort something akin to ‘ain’t nobody here in the nba’ 🤣🤣🤣

even tho i rarely play something that i been trying to stop doing & now notice when i see games now is how much people carry when dribbling these days 😮‍💨, it definitely increases the options of what’s possible

I need to watch him (,Hezi) vs. Trevor Dunbar

Wear compression leggings when playing and also foam roll or use a massage gun before and after. Also a cold shower afterwards

what yall do to prevent knee soreness the next day? :nerd:

1st thing, would be trying to figure out why you’re getting sore knee(s)…and if possible address that with mobility stuff/stretching/strength training, in the meantime, you could do a lil warmup/cool down stretch routine before & immediately after hooping then take an aspirin or ibuprofen after the hoop session if you anticipate the pain being a nuisance the next day and/or elevate the affected knee(s) that night when sleeping…and try to keep moving said knee(s) throughout the day such that it/they don’t get stiff, motion is lotion!

you could do the ice thing, but it’s only temporary relief & there’s lot of research that kinda indicates that it is more harmful than good in the long term, in fact the guy that sort of came up with the whole RICE (rest, ice, compress, elevation) protocol no longer recommends this method. the cold can sort help with recovery but is supposedly less effective in terms of helping your body actually adapt, so you really want to figure out how to best mitigate your knee pain ahead of activity

Wassup with this Bs

Chalmers vs Friga
Ty Lawson vs dahezifraud

Washed nba hoopers vs juco drop outs lmao

In their prime these guys were starting nba PGs making multi millions. Friga/Hezifraud in their prime (now) are pretty good LA fitness pick up players. Just doesn’t feel right but whatever

Edit- just remembered both these guys helped lead their teams to national championships at Kansas and unc lmao. Cmon bruhhh

aesthetically, i’m not a fan of hezigod’s game but he definitely seems to get buckets…also not mad at the the matchups tho admittedly i wouldn’t watch them either; it’s all basketball tho obviously chalmers & lawson played at the highest level, 1s are a different thing and it could go differently on the court 🤷🏿‍♂️

Nahhhh I’m not rollin
All fax from MDW. If I was the kid that got boomed on I’m body slamming at least 20 people

not sure where this flooding the court & embarrassing kids came to be acceptable on the aau level(s)…the adults should definitely be accountable for checking that stuff

hezifraud lost me off rip the very first time I seen him online and saw what he calls himself, and I’m looking at his highlights, like bro you don’t even have a nice hezi 😂😂😂
Obviously Lawson (and chalmers) are old and washed but I’m hoping they’re in shape, of course if they were in shape they’d murder both them juco cats
