Basketball Thread About Nothing

Let me school you. I’m willing to bet you was playing older cats or cats who ain’t played in forever.

Them fools were tired. Those are old school washed move. Lol.
Actually, I was the older cat (48). They were all between 20-25 but you’re probably right - I know they were tired and trying to break rhythm/momentum.

Everything says this is a travel but by the letter of the law, it should be legal, right? Or am I buggin?

defo looks awkward which contributed to the call but i want to say this would be clean on all levels; gather then 2 steps so it’s fasho legal in the nba

I still remember the last time I dunked. I was rapidly becoming the washed so I was keeping track, also because i wasnt hooping as regularly anymore so i was quickly gaining weight. It was in 2009 and I was right around 250lbs at Honeycutt Fitness Center in Ft Sill on a fast break

I’m tryin to dunk when I’m 40 in less than 2 years… on the La fitness low rims lol. Those 2 inches make a huge difference (yea I know that’s what she said)

I barely dunk now but I be injured so much, sometimes I can barely touch rim lol. But when I’m healthy its still clean

Being Washed at 31 is wild….I was still in my prime cooking fools.

depending on the definition of od being ‘washed’ there is no age requirement, some would say it’s just being in a greatly declined/diminished state…

same. i don’t know why it is most la fitness rims aren’t ever regulation

Pandemic basically forced me into retirement.

Haven't HOOPED since April 2020.

Sometimes I miss it.
Other times I'm cool.
Played basketball for 32 years of my life.
Yea pandemic finished me off too

I feel the same way

But I inched out there like 4 weeks ago and played great. I think I’ve found a nice spot for my speed. I’m clearly the most skill out there and I can coast my way to a easy bucket but I ain’t tripping on showing it. I’m out there going 60% and I’m cool with it. I’ve come to realize who I am now, I ain’t giving you nothing to the rack in the halfcourt, not bc I can’t but bc I won’t. On defense I don’t take it as a challenge anymore, I have no problem telling somebody to switch. Playing great help side tho. I’m itching to go back next Tuesday.

I was hooping during the pandemic even had a squad to run with.
stop hooping late last year and focus on other aspects of my life.
realized hooping too much got me talking to everyone negatively, I hoop with some toxic people , bleed into talking negatively to people and that was just bad for business.

next go around I'll like teach and train middle schoolers, made my heart feel good when middle schoolers appreciate the guidance you give them.

Idk
I think he ends his dribble and takes 3 steps?? Looks weird

definitely nba legal, might be questionable by high school rules

underrated to find some run that is just the right level, especially that have awareness such people know how to play & aren’t out of control/awkward

pandemic put hooping competitively on something of a perpetual pause, when it started not only did the gyms close but they took down most of the rims in the area; i eventually found a couple spots to get shots up…even when the gyms reopened it was a minute before they freed up the courts for use…these days i’d only play if they need 1 or i’m really feeling super good, otherwise i just practice some dribbling/shooting drills & (struggle) dunk attempts

🤣🤣🤣 hilarious! trash talk is easily up there as one of the best/worst parts of pickup hoop…best case it’s just entertaining banter worst case it devolves into unnecessary confrontations either way it almost always makes games slower 🫤

Yea that's a weird story.

How old was dude that tried to quit?
dude was in his mid 30s no older
could be an age thing but even if not it makes sense to me, especially if he was coming off some injury…when it started getting a bit physical he probably started second guessing playing. mans admitted he was rusty so you have to allow him on the jumper whiffing on hitting rim 😂

i’ll be 41 in a couple months & even tho i still have a some athleticism left, i’m always concerned about getting injured now…especially in any run with folk being a lil too unnecessarily overly physical…
Well the thing is if you going into the paint where my other teammate is 6'5 expect contact :lol
if you don't want contact stick to jumpers
and no one was being overly physical i was just there i wasn't hacking or doing anything aggressive :lol dude was just a wacko

you can't be going into the paint expecting no contact what soever

yea, not saying that however much the contact in the game was actually too much but that it likely just was the case that it made him second guess the whole endeavor 😂

I mean I guess I could mask up and play but I would have to be up close and personal with maskless folks that I don't know from a can of paint.

I'm good on that.

😂 basically, i do this…not nearly as restrictive as it would seem, slightly annoying tho…but then again i don’t actually play that much and even when i do i’m not going more than that 50-75% effort range

This is one of many reasons why I stop, Been in situations where the bookworm Asian kid was ready to air the park out cause of the trash talking. No cap when they say watch out for them quiet ones.
